Weeks posts
Most nights I can be found behind a computer screen, or the pages of a book. But for the next week or so I’ll instead be out every night celebrating our local design community at Melbourne Design Week. Please don’t be shy, and if you see me, come say hello x x - Anouska (pr “Anoushka”) aka A.mi (pr “ah-mee”) Photo by @thomasjpg

High Light House, 2025 • Another post-construction image captured by us of High Light House, a project we worked on in collaboration with @archier_ last year. Seen here, the view from the ensuite down toward the walk-in-robe. Our work on specifying finishes resulted in an emotive outcome that shifts tonally as its occupants journey through the home. Design by Archier, finishes by us. The home is awaiting delivery of final furniture pieces specified by us too, and will be photographed professionally late this year. Architecture: @archier_ Built: @building_integrity_group Joinery: @mood.workshop

2026 Australian Interior Design Awards Shortlist Residential Decoration Ora House, 2026 • I am humbled to announce that our work on Ora House has been shortlisted for the residential decoration category this year. Ora House sits quietly amongst the other shortlisted projects, with its decorative additions acting as a visual extension to the architecture, rather than contrasting embellishment. Much of our decoration work on this project had us custom designing furniture, an extraordinary opportunity granted to us by our wonderful clients. Our entry caption: "Ora House positions interior decoration as integral to the architectural experience. Anchored in Australian Mid-Century sensibility, a suite of bespoke, highly resolved furniture introduces warmth, tactility and adaptability. Crafted with local makers, the project celebrates intelligence, restraint and the quiet beauty of inviting patina for pieces designed to endure." Thank you to our clients for trusting us, collaborating, and pushing our ideas further, to create what we have together. Thank you also to @archier_ for inviting us onto the project and trusting us to work harmoniously to their vision, for @hughmccarthy , @seeded_interiors , @westonfab , @kobra_tiling_venetian and IMGC upholstery; talented makers and trades involved in bringing our designs to life, and to @piercarthew for capturing it all. I look forward to sharing more soon, with a very special announcement.

A.mi in the press • Pied-à-Paris Apartment • May’s issue of Home Beautiful features a 10 page spread of our Pied-à-Paris Apartment project. Designed in 2021 in just our second year of practice, I am so happy to see the design still feeling exciting and fresh to new eyes. An integral part of the way we design is to take cues from history rather than trends, which we believe creates the most enduring outcomes. I’m also grateful for the way our highly considered planning is included within the article; educating readers that it’s not just a pretty face. Thank you @brittanysmith_writing , @homebeautiful , our amazing photogapher @blachford , and of course our to client for trusting a newcomer with her home.

Athína Home, 2025 • 2 photos captured from a small furnishings project completed across 2024 and 2025. Our clients approached us for help sourcing new furniture and lighting for their newly renovated home. Building upon the architecture’s palette of white cabinetry, pale floorboards and pink tone natural stone, we drew upon one of our client's Greek lineage and the family travels to Greece to create a collection inspired by Athens; a dynamic blend of ancient, rustic, and modern minimalism. Somewhere in the past couple of weeks, A.mi turned 6 • It’s quite surreal to realise I’ve been running A.mi for the length of a high school education. Yet reflecting on the learning & development I’ve had as both a designer and businessperson over the past six years, it’s been just as formative. When I launched A.mi in March/April 2020 (COVID), I didn’t yet have the business or marketing acumen to realise I should complete a project before starting a practice- the first of many indicators that I'd thrown myself into the deep end. Since then the learning curve has never ended. I’ve had to learn and integrate a myriad of acronyms previously alien to me such as P&L, BAS, CPI, USP, and many more. There have been countless late work nights and countless sleepless nights, but despite all this - not one single day where I’ve woken up and thought I should be doing anything else but this. I feel filled with gratitude to have a career I care this deeply about, and one I can continue to shape around what interests me most about people and design. I’m grateful for the wonderful staff who have worked alongside me - it has been humbling to have people by my side wanting to learn and create following the ethos of A.mi. I’m thankful for the many friendships I’ve formed within the local design community, the openness they have shown me, and their passion, which inspires me in turn. I am so grateful to my clients past and present who have trusted myself and my team with their homes and businesses. Trust is an enormous gift to grant a stranger, and I will never take that privilege lightly. Finally, thank you to our Instagram followers. Feeding the insatiable appetite of the social media beast is a job in itself, and it can be difficult not to compare numbers or get caught up in popularity. Because of this, I’m very thankful for those who recognise that what we do is something interesting and unique. I’m eagerly anticipating the completion of a number of projects currently in construction so that we can finally share what we’ve been working on for the past few years. Thank you. -Anouska Milstein (A.mi) X x Portraits of me by @thomasjpg

Bluestone House, Ongoing • A brief glimpse of a project still under construction, where our owner-builder clients are already enjoying the home while final elements are nearing completion. Having worked together on another home a few years ago, when the client approached us for this one armed with strong reference imagery and creative ideas of their own, we embraced a collaborative approach - trusting the process to shape these influences into a cohesive whole. The results are an surprising, eclectic, and ecstatic clash of old meets new - all housed within a Fitzroy bluestone worker's cottage. More to come upon completion.

Another glimpse of a special project still underway... 1. The guest bathroom / children's bathroom-to-be. A playful but ever timeless collision of colour, pattern, and form; sophisticated but joyful. 2. A considered treatment for a window requiring privacy; combining volumous, draping blinds with a discreet and minimal privacy curtain. By our friends @omake_au

Some updates from a project still under way... 1. Barry, tuning in / deep listening on the new living room @pittandgiblin speakers next to a limited edition Henry Moore @gubiofficial lamp via our friends @ingoodcompany__ . 2. Barry, testing the water temperature of the main ensuite - our first broader glimpse of this beautiful bathroom designed in 2024

UFFICIO APPARTAMENTO, 2026 • Another of my favourite shots captured by @thomasjpg in my apartment-turn-studio space in January. Inspired by @apartamentomagazine , the shoot reflects our interest as a practice in creating interiors that tell a story of its occupants, and that will carry them for decades in a design that doesn’t tire as trends pass, but that emotionally resonates through every detail and forever feels personal to them. Our greatest desire for each project is to provide a backdrop upon which our clients feel confident and comfortable layering their lives. That includes mess and clutter- our interiors are not designed to be precious, they are designed to be truly lived in.

UFFICIO APPARTAMENTO, 2026 • One of my favourite shots from a recent photoshoot with @thomasjpg at my apartment. It reflects the A.mi ethos is that great interior design should be shaped to accommodate life. Perfect is dull, complex is interesting. A vintage Italian coffee table I purchased from Italy’s eBay years ago, paired with a new aluminium table made by @camsgreen last year. A Moroccan rug, paired with oversized Verdure, and a textured melange aubergine coloured wool, and velvet tiger print cushions. Curiosity is our starting point. Last year I began leaving my art books open on my tables - we constantly question the norms and ask if habits can be reshaped for a more beautiful life. Sensational sofa fabrics by @designsofthetime

UFFICIO APPARTAMENTO • (Perché, dove sennò?) 2026 Welcoming in Autumn and new followers with a first look at new bio images, shot in my apartment home - because, where else? This week marks the launch of our new office space, which feels only natural to announce paired with a recent photoshoot inspired by @apartamentomagazine and their playful, unpolished lens on the homes of creatives. Ufficio Appartamento || Office Apartment. This is where I live, and from today, where we work. Where ideas will be shared with our clients at the dining table alongside a morning caffè or evening aperitivo. As always from us, a departure from trends. 2026: No Rules. We design primarily in the residential realm, so for now, A.mi has shifted to be reciprocal in context. Personal. Intimate. Honest. Unexpected, but considered. Intelligent, but always fun. Welcome to UFFICIO APPARTAMENTO. More photos soon. - Anouska Thank you infinitely to the talented @thomasjpg who waited a whole year until I was finally ready to do this shoot, and who captured the character of both me and my home so perfectly. Thank you also to the wonderful team at @mokumstudio who facilitated my vision to drape my sofa in my favourites, @designsofthetime fabric... and to all of the makers and artists whose work adorn my home.
