Kick things off Friday evening at KOMBI Gallery in Stone Ridge for fireside drinks, food, and a walk-through of Frances v.H.’s Mohair tapestries, with a lighting installation by Jake Coan and a rare-apple tasting by Titusville Farm.
Then spend the weekend dropping by open studios from Andrew Molleur, Sawkill Co., Kat Howard, Abigail Castañeda, Kieran Kinsella and Jeff Shapiro— each offering a glimpse inside their creative world.

On Saturday, October 25, we’re teaming up with @meggiesullivan of @bigmess.co to host: What’s Your Why? — Finding Creative Magic in Motion at @bluehillfarm
A seasoned athlete and runner, BIGMESS’ Meggie Gracia-Sullivan leads us through a 3-mile group run in Rockefeller State Park (multiple pace groups + walk/run friendly), followed by an intentional reflection session and dialogue. Together, we’ll explore how the diligence, clarity, and awareness of elite performance can be applied to artistic and design practice — discovering “magic in the motion.”
We’ll close with lunch trays and conversation at the world-renowned farm restaurant, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, fostering a cross-disciplinary exchange between designers, artists, architects, and creative entrepreneurs. This is not just a run; it’s an opportunity to stoke stamina, clarity, and renewal into your creative work and goals.

Final day of my solo research trip Downeast before reuniting with my fam.
1. Early rise and breakfast at @deerislehostel

4. Slow drive back down Rt 1
Exhausted and enamored, inspired and intrigued. There’s so much more to explore here in future trips. And I came away with many exciting ideas percolating for how an SG adventure experience to Maine could start to come together!

📍 Maine Field Notes: Day 2
The rhythm of this trip keeps unfolding in beautiful layers:
1. Castine: a quiet coastal town where revolutionary era history and architecture feel like they’ve barely budged in a century or two.
2. @haystack_school : perched dramatically on the rocks, boardwalks weaving through the woods into studios buzzing with activity. A pilgrimage spot for anyone drawn to rural modern architecture and creative practice.
3. A wonderful stay at @deerislehostel : rustic hand built accommodations fully off the grid. A reminder that simplicity can be its own luxury.
4. A lobster boil fundraiser with @islandheritagetrust and @burnt_cove_boil — oysters, lobsters, and one of the most electric sunsets I’ve seen in a while.
Traveling with curiosity and intention has a way of stringing together contrasts: history, creativity, simplicity, community. A kind of music comprised of sweet and unexpected individual notes.
