I’m Back - but only to give you FREE PINKEST PINK - head over to culturehustle.com for yours.
Because 10 years later Kapoor is still at large.
Cars, Buildings, Cans and watches have been coated with the Blackest Black (vantablack)
But only one artist has been able to use it - and that’s Kapoor because he’s still got the rights for art.
So - to celebrate the 10th birthday of the Pinkest Pink I’m giving it away for free to everyone except Kapoor.
Because sharing your colours is nice, and art is for everyone.
I’ve even signed them for you.
Get yours from culturehustle.com (as long as you’re not Kapoor) to be part of it.

UP YOURS, 2019
Oil & Pinkest Pink on canvas
180 × 120 cm
Exhibited: Bermondsey Project Space, London (2019).
I painted this photoreal work in 2019 for my solo show at Bermondsey Project Space, London. Kapoor dipped his finger into my Pinkest Pink, so I stole his Instagram post and turned it into art.
The performance came full circle: his gesture, my pigment, immortalised in oil on canvas.
Available directly from the studio. Serious acquisition inquiries (from £20,000). DM for details.
On view now until the end of September at @durrell_jerseyzoo

AN IMAGE IS AN EXCUSE.
I can’t leave it behind, because I need it.
A crutch.
8 year old me would beg mum to tell me what to paint next.
An elephant. A Castle. A pizza. A ninja turtle.
Guston spoke of “a third hand” that took over.
I’ve felt it come once or twice.
An image is a reason for painting.
But the painting is its own thing.
Can the right image conjour the magic hand?
Can an image become art without it?
Paint is alive.
Until it dries and dies.
Abstraction is bravery.
Abandoning the subject is a cop-out.
Maybe the truth is in the middle.
The image is the lyrics.
The paint is the melody.
The marks are a performance.
The surface is a recording.
The image is the precious idea.
Carried into the painting.
I fight to keep it intact.
The sacred idea - the plan.
But it’s only any good when the paint breaks it.
