Nassim L’Ghoul & Stefanie Schwarzwimmer
Barometer of Self-Optimization
On view until January 10
📍@galerieklemms
Klemm’s presents Barometer of Self-Optimization, a video programme featuring works by @n_lghoul (*1997 in Bad Soden) and @stschw (*1990 in Linz), with screenings at Klemm’s Downstairs. Complementing Sven Johne’s exhibition Eternal 20th Century, the programme explores conceptual links across generations, touching on themes of violence, labour, war, and the uncanny. In his works, Nassim L’Ghoul creates dreamlike 3D animations in which personal associations flow freely. His films are built around “prepass images” — intermediate renderings usually unseen in the final animation process. Stefanie Schwarzwimmer constructs virtual spaces mixing memories, media, and pop culture, forming satirical reflections on social trends. Her work examines content creation, self-optimization, consumerism, and visual power in a media-saturated world.

‘Barometer of Self-Optimization’
NOV 21 - JAN 10, 2026
Klemm’s presents 'Barometer of Self-Optimization', a video programme featuring works by Nassim L’Ghoul (*1997 in Bad Soden) and Stefanie Schwarzwimmer (*1990 in Linz), with screenings at Klemm’s Downstairs. Complementing Sven Johne’s exhibition 'Eternal 20th Century', the programme explores conceptual links across generations, touching on themes of violence, labour, war, and the uncanny.
In his works, Nassim L’Ghoul uses digital and conceptual tools to abstract personal experiences and interweave them with found material. By re-contextualising these fragments, hybrid environments are created that oscillate between the real and the imaginary. Stefanie Schwarzwimmer constructs virtual spaces mixing memories, media, and pop culture, forming satirical reflections on social trends. Her work examines content creation, self-optimization, consumerism, and visual power in a media-saturated world.
Screenings: Saturdays, 12–6 pm, Nov 21–Jan 10, 2026, and by appointment.

Invoking Mark Fischer’s definition of “the eerie”, this screening explores the uncanny intersections of presence and absence, the body and technology. How do we navigate a world that is both hyper-visible and ghosted? What forms of agency does the eerie contain within it?

Stefanie Schwarzwimmer (*1990 in Linz) is a multimedia artist who lives and works in Berlin. From 2012 to 2018, she studied art and digital media at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Constanze Ruhm. Her work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions, including at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen (2020), at Deborah Bowmann in Brussels (solo exhibition, 2021), at Kasseler Kunstverein (2022), at Oberösterreichischer Kunstverein (solo exhibition, 2024) and in solo screenings at Kunstverein der Rheinlande und Westfalen Düsseldorf as part of the ‘Another Eye’ series (2024) and at KW Berlin as part of a ‘Pogo Bar’ event (2024).
In her works, she builds virtual spaces consisting of memories, media images and pop culture elements. They can be read as satirical and self-critical barometers of social trends. Topics such as content creation, self-optimisation and questions about the apparent evidential power of the image find their way into her works.
Nighttime. A plate is rotating around its own axis without tipping over. Several people around the world discover the mysterious incident during the night. They film it with their mobile devices and comment on it in their respective languages.
The work deals with the increasingly disappearing line between fact and fiction and the disputed notion of the photograph as being evidential as all scenes were built, textured and rendered with 3D Software, although appea- ring realistic. Silent Revolution plays with these circumstances and explores its speculative potential. It creates an altered string of reality—evidential material for a fictitious event.

The Emerging Eye Network was founded in 2023 by filmmakers to promote horizontal exchanges in the development of moving image works. Once a month, members meet in different studios to present their works-in-progress, discuss current funding applications and receive constructive feedback.
With the screening “All that Glitters,” the network presents a selection of its members’ short films for the first time. The program brings together individual artistic positions which reflect experimental expansions of the documentary genre. Nodding to the phrase “All that Glitters” is not gold, the films ask for different observations of today’s conditions of reality in the hopes of a new distribution of those very terms.
