Three architectural volumes create opportunities for dramatic roof forms, plentiful daylighting, and vaulted interiors at both levels, while organizational axes highlight framed views around and through this courtyard house.
Blackened cedar siding and a light Accoya wood siding from
@deltamillworks clad the exterior. The Accoya, color-matched to the concrete, helps to define the darkly-clad upper volumes. Concrete columns are angled to direct views out toward the landscape, rather than define spatial boundaries.
Exposed scuppers and downspouts are carefully- detailed, minimalist moments. This low-tech yet effective water management system is one of several visual cues that harken to the agricultural context.
The new swimming pool is set in a mown area of meadow with a simple pasture fence perimeter, a nod to the utilitarian expression of neighboring farms.
