Horrified by ICE’s killings of Renee Good, Alex Pretti and many others and the rise of authoritarianism in our country. Do you not feel sick to live in a place where our neighbors are forced to show papers bc of their accent or the color of their skin? That will never be moral.
My deep respect to everyone fighting back by protecting our communities and putting your safety on the line. More empathy, more kindness is the only way. Now more than ever, we have to look after each other.

In 2018, I started photographing people from below. I palmed a Leica film camera and got as close as I could to the bankers and lawyers of midtown Manhattan, the types I used to work with at my corporate job.
The only bts I have is a reflection from a man’s sunglasses (see the last slide). I don’t have the bravado to do this anymore, but sometimes I’ll try it at an award show for old time’s sake.
In 2024 an agency sent me to the Iowa State fair ostensibly to photograph the viral “husband calling” competition. These are the photographs I made. Never heard from them again.
