Last week, students from @trinity_academy_hartford joined us in the garden as part of their unit on plants đą
Together, they planted, explored, and learned about the care it takes to help a garden grow. Days like these remind us that gardens are more than beautiful spaces. Theyâre places for curiosity, connection, and community.
Weâre grateful to welcome volunteers of all ages and experience levels to our historic grounds throughout the season. Whether youâre a seasoned gardener or simply looking to spend a morning outdoors with others, thereâs a place for you here.
đż Volunteer with us Mondays & Thursdays
đ 9 AMâ12 PM
đ April through October
No experience necessary. Just bring comfortable clothes and a willingness to dig in. Bring a friend!

As conversations about labor, protest, and economic power continue across the country, @chris.smalls_ remains at the center of a growing movement for workersâ rights.
Next month, we welcome Smalls to the Stowe Center for Literary Activism for a conversation on his new book When the Revolution Comes: A Fight for the Future of the Working Class.
Part memoir, part organizing blueprint, the book traces Smallsâ journey from Amazon warehouse worker to labor leader and explores the realities of working-class life, grassroots organizing, and collective action in America today.
In conversation with Stowe Center employee Anita Durkin of UAW Local 2110, this program asks what solidarity looks like now and where the labor movement goes next.
Books will be sold at the event, courtesy of @riverbendbookshop

In a moment that asked us to think across time, Stowe in Context & Conversation brought scholars, students, and readers together to sit with the enduring questions of Harriet Beecher Stoweâs workâand the worlds it continues to shape.
From rich panel discussions to a powerful keynote by @tiyamiles , the day unfolded as both inquiry and exchange: a space where history met the present, and where literature opened pathways into public life, memory, and moral imagination.
Weâre especially grateful to the Trinity College History Dept and @ct_explored for their generous supportâand a special thanks to Scott Gac, whose partnership helped bring this day togetherâalongside our speakers and community.
The dialogue continues.

What does it mean to be Human? is coming to itâs final days, but I know the impact of this show will remain.
We have come together in this space to honor and celebrate immigrant stories, to call out harrowing human rights violations, and to plan how we move forward with protecting our neighbors and our community.
This exhibit created space to grieve, to build compassion and understanding, and to empower each other to take a stand.
I am incredibly grateful for the moments we shared. Letâs share the last few moments together in community.
Exhibit open to the public until May 16th.
End of exhibit party and celebration (El Teteo đ) at @stowecenter Sat May 16th 12-4pm on the lawn!
