Here’s a great tip for perfectly tensioning your colourwork knitting. By doing this, you’re making the yarn floats go around the outside of your needles and therefore they’re going to be looser and stretchier. Let me know if you’ve tried this and if it’s worked for you? It can be done on socks, mittens, sleeves, basically any colourwork knitting with a small circumference!

Who by the way has always had a slightly weird obsession with footwear, so it felt only right to design socks in his honour.😅 I thought it would be fun to knit and wear socks with snails and tortoises on them and I don’t know about you, but I wish sometimes that I could hide inside a shell all day and just knit. This two pattern colourwork sock set is inspired by snails and tortoises (or turtles if you use a blue background!). Creatures that live in shells and move slowly. I’m currently enjoying knitting a lighter, summery version of Packed Like Sardines socks from my Fisherfolk’s Fancy sock set. On a side note, I recently read that AI is being trained on how to create people’s art, by scanning our process videos so it can ‘make their own’.🫣 Just to clarify, you can always know my videos are real from the random cat fur lying on my clothing.😅 All my creative endeavours are human made, from my (sometimes strangely written) captions, photos, pattern writing, designs, colourwork charts, videos, it’s all me. My German pattern translations are done professionally by fellow human Marie @greenermakes and my knitting pattern tech editor, is also equally human @cathysusko (who has survived tech editing all 3 of my sock books btw too!🤭). Just liking to keep it real!❤️

They say never work with children or animals and when I was photographing the front cover for Joyful Colorwork socks book, I could see why.😼 It’s time to share the outtakes with you. My cat Ivy really got into the role, getting a bit obsessed with the alpaca sock yarn and being more excited by the cat treats than looking at the camera. Anyways, the final picture was the photo chosen for the front cover. How to knit jogless stripes in the round!🦞
You know when you’re knitting stripes and the start of the new colour doesn’t sit quite right at the beginning of the round? This is how to avoid that. I recently started a new version of my lobster sock pattern from Fisherfolk’s Fancy sock set that I released last year and i thought it would be fun to have the stripes going under the lobster motifs.
