What an absolute dream to photograph @mountaingoatsmusic at @revolutionhall on Monday. I've never seen such a large audience be able to sing, word for word, every single song that was being played--and I've never seen a band appear so happy to be in front of a crowd.

I've always wanted to see @geofftateomc perform, and last night I finally got my wish. It was worth the wait. Now if I could just get Pink Floyd back together... @geofftateomc performing at @hawthornetheatrepdx on November 18th, 2025.

One of my favorite things about photographing live concerts is catching the weird, subtle details that other people might otherwise miss: the stickers on a guitar case, the figurine on the keyboard, the drawing on a fret board, the way a person sings out of one side of their mouth, the way light catches an audience member's face. It's what makes a performance so good and entirely unique. It's the human quirks we all have. I was thinking about this while I photographed @motherfolkmusic at @mississippistudios back on November 1st (I told you I'm behind on posting). It was a good, solidly quirky and outstanding performance, and the audience loved it. They sang along to every tune. People danced. They hugged. They smiled. Music is magic, ya'll. Had the privilege of photographing Floater ( @realfloater ) at the Crystal Ballroom ( @crystalballroom ) on Halloween this year. I've been listening to them for the last, oh, nearly 30 years. Which doesn't seem real somehow. What an amazing night. It almost makes up for the person that shattered the passenger side window of my car that night. *shakes fist* --Andrew @robwynia @markpowers @floaterdave12

First. Annual. Soup. Cook-Off. In. The. Books! Over 100 guests gathered in our production kitchen to share soup, stories, and gratitude, and to learn more about our workforce culinary training program. There were chowders, stews, and soups from Mexico, West Africa, Italy, and beyond. We crowned a winner (and yes, there were tears), especially hearing George from Akadi tell his powerful story. Thank you for sharing with us! Highlights from the day: 🥣 Kachka donating their leftover soup to Urban Gleaners (who will then distribute it to people in need) 👩‍🍳 Our graduates stepping up as chef liaisons and owning the space and everything they learned in the program! 🤝 New friendships forming, with coffee dates already on the calendar! Thank you, Portland, for showing up and kicking off @giveguide season in true community style. Because of you, we raised over $10,000 (including $1,450 in 2 hours!) for our programs. I've been spending a lot of time in basement venues as of late. I don't know why. Perhaps it's the cold, or the late October chill, or the state of the world, or just that feeling in my soul--what they'd call in the old world, "colpo di strega," or "touched by the witch". @thesixpdx had good company in @theupkeepsofficial , though. A warm fire in a basement stove, if ever there was a good comparison. Good music was had, and good company reveled to keep the dark away. I also took some great photos of @worldofprismia and will be posting those soon, too.

What do you get when you take a crazy number of talented musicians, stuff them into Mississippi Studios, and have them play David Bowie songs reimagined as rock-country tunes? You get this. You get "Days of Bowie: Black Country Rock".
