Three questions for Lin, founder of Squeeze Sour @squeezesour @lin000nnn tabling at the Printed Matter LA Art Book Fair @printedmatter_artbookfairs @printedmatterinc hard liver notes: I discovered Squeeze Sour and linlin plum last year at the PM LAABF and took home the necklace book and Room, Yuhan Cheng (one of my favorite books). Lin is taking “photo book” and truly contextualizing image in an experimental way. So lovely to see Lin and the Squeeze Sour collection, revisit some previous work and see some new things they’ve been working! #printedmatter #losangeles #artbooks #bookfair #laabf2026

The book is a visual experiment that explores a state of perpetual immersion in which plants become entangled within the urban environment. Its core methodology is derived from the Locard’s Exchange Principle proposed by criminologist Edmond Locard. It is summarized as: “Every contact leaves a trace.” “I regard the city as an ongoing scene of interaction. By examining the interfaces where plants come into contact with artificial materials, I document the process through which they are continuously soaked and reshaped by the urban environment. Plants, as the primary evidence, become the “silent witnesses” within Locard’s principle. The photographs make extensive use of direct flash to evoke the detached, clinical perspective of forensic investigation, forming a visual chain of evidence. As one of the metaphors, plants suggest that humans are both the “perpetrators” of the alienated condition imposed on urban plant life, and, in another dimension, its “victims.” Through endless contact across different domains, living beings are repeatedly rewritten and redefined, resulting in an irreversible process of alienation.”

📕📕A book is an object, a span of time, and a container of community life. With that idea, and a curiosity about how it takes form, we interviewed the editorial team behind FLOATER, a book born from a close-knit community, @chinatownbasketballclub ,built through basketball, art-making, and, above all, the simple act of gathering and playing together. 🏀🏀We talked about how something as immaterial as shared moments became a physical book. “i am a sour person” A black double lace tank top embroidered with the words “i am a sour person” Thread hands down—cut it short or tie it into a knot 2025 Three sizes editions Concept & Development by Lin Wang @lin000nnn Ann and I always have sex under the lemon tree. She is a sour person, me too. Every time she opens my leg, slams my body against the tree trunk, the tree shakes strongly. The bark irritates my bare skin, it makes me feel sour as the vague pain from rubbing against the lemon tree trunk. When the lemon matures, with the shaking, the lemon falls. Ann just takes one of them on the ground. Use the same power as she hit inside my body, squeeze the lemon. The lemon juice will fall from my forehead, pass through my face, my body. My body is sour. Then she put the squeezed lemon in my mouth to keep me from making voice. My saliva and lemon juice dripped all over her soft body, then her body become sour. When I go about orgasm, I always cry. The lemon juice that holds by my eyelashes will fall. She loves my tear, tastes with her tongue, whispers in my ear “your tear is sour”. 2022 Written by Lin Wang @lin000nnn Thanks to mom and friends for their support in making this possible. Design for FLOATER: Blurring Basketball Lines, @chinatownbasketballclub ’s first book that celebrates the past five years (2019–2024) of its evolving visual culture, featuring essays by its co-founders (Herb Tam and Lu Zhang) and core players (Sean Catangui, Alex Zhang, Chiarina Chen, Dustin Lin, Reef [Harith Liew]), and over 220 reproductions of posters, artworks and photographs by various artists and cultural producers who have been part of the collective. Through five years of collaborative artwork and events emerging from CBC’s weekly runs at New York’s Columbus Park, the book proposes a decentered, Asian approach to reimagining a sport long dominated by corporate expressions of aggression, masculinity, and elitism—addressing questions such as: Is there an alternative, distinctly Asian (diaspora) way of experiencing basketball? Could there be a basketball aesthetic rooted in Asian (diaspora) that exists outside mainstream basketball culture? 🫧 A project by @chinatownbasketballclub Co-published by linlin Plum @squeezesour & @chinatownbasketballclub Edited by Herb Tam @herbtam & Lu Zhang @wetdreamsneverend Designed by Xinyuan Qu @xinyuan_qu Printed in the first edition of 600 by GZ Xinqicai in China Swiss binding, 6.25 x 9 inches, 285 pages Typeset in ABC Social Condensed & Mono by @abcdinamo ; Rungli by @kplehmann ; Ten Mincho, Source Han Sans & Mono by Adobe The book is made possible with support from TRF. 🫧 AVAILABLE NOW at @chinatownbasketballclub webshop and select stores: @actual_source , @printedmatterinc , @accentsisters , @icp , @hauserwirth and more. It’s a long time coming one! 🪼 FLOATER: BLURRING BASKETBALL LINES. CBC first book that celebrates our past 5 years 2019-2024 visual culture, with essays contributed by @herbtam @wetdreamsneverend @meguadogaaaa @_catangui @alxzhg @chiarina.chen @dustin_lin_photos Please join us at @icp Photobook Fest Sunday, October 5, 3:30pm International Center for Photography, 84 Ludlow Street, Lower East Side Book Talk: Imagining an Alternative Basketball Aesthetics Floater: Blurring Basketball Lines documents the basketball aesthetics, philosophies, and personal narratives that have emerged from CBC’s weekly runs at New York’s Columbus Park since 2019. The book traces how CBC has cultivated collective creativity over five years of collaborative poster art, graphics, and events—addressing questions such as: Is there an alternative, distinctly Asian (diaspora) way of experiencing basketball? Could there be a basketball aesthetic rooted in Asian (diaspora) that exists outside mainstream basketball culture? Panelists: Lu Zhang and Herb Tam of Chinatown Basketball Club @wetdreamsneverend @herbtam Xinyuan Qu (designer) @xinyuan_qu Moderated by Lin Wang of linlin Plum @lin000nnn @squeezesour (co-publisher) In anatomy, a FLOATER refers to tiny specks or shapes that drift across one’s field of vision—never fixed, always in motion. More broadly, the term describes something that remains suspended, either on the surface of water or in the air. In basketball, a floater is a short-range, high-arching shot above the reach of a taller defender. In many senses, floater suggests a suspension of outcomes—full of possibility, hovering just out of reach. The book is made possible with support from TRF.

Besides one of my friends who keeps making photo books even when the personal and general environment is not ideal, another important moment was the first book fair I attended — the 2022 NYABF @printedmatter_artbookfairs , back when I was studying in SF. I got a lot of inspiration from the fair. It was kind of where Squeeze Sour @squeezesour started. After I moved to New York. In early 2024, I felt that I wanted Squeeze Sour to connect with more people. This is the reason I persuaded my mom to support me in applying for an O1 visa. Attending the NYABF has been a milestone for both me and Squeeze Sour. I was really mentally exhausted before the fair. Now, though I feel physically tied and almost can’t speak anymore, I feel mentally recharged. I am always deeply thankful to the warm family @printedmatterinc , and to the audience and friends who support and encourage me so much. Most of my best friends now I’ve met through Squeeze Sour. Through its self-published branch — linlin Plum — I’ve also had the chance to work with many great artists. Squeeze Sour means a lot to me. I have received so much love, energy, care, and trust through it. I hope I can keep the specialness that Squeeze Sour holds — to stay creative, sincere, and grateful.

【linlin Plum】 “Catnip” “猫薄荷” Rings by Tina Tan @tinana_tan , Books by Yike Zhang @echoo.zhang 2025 Book: 1.4 x 1.8 cm, Ring book box: 1.8 x 2.1 x 0.6 cm , Ring size variable 16 pages Sliver, Oil on watercolor paper Limited Edition of 10 copies Published by linlin Plum I grew up in the forest. Plants embody motherhood. In the busy city, there seems to be no quiet space to take a deep breath. Through the soil and pots at home, the plants I nurture connect me to the forest. They come from the same earth and share the same roots. They are my source of water, my source of energy. Just like a cat sensing catnip, even a glimpse of their greenery fills me with vitality again.

Burning book is a book intended to being burned. In Chinese funeral culture, flames are necessary for the transformation of matter from birth to death. From golden bars, paper money, and clothes to luxury goods, mansions, skin care products, and digital components, the expectation of a privileged life represented by funerary objects or paper offerings have not changed, but the goods have evolved with the times. As a creator, when I am thinking of products that I wanted to bring from the living world to the world after death, I was surprised to find that art had never been on this list, that is the reason why I created this Burning book. It contains ten images, each beginning with Van Gogh’s floral paintings. Every scene was reconstructed in reality through staging and photographing, then merged back with the original painting. Each work becomes a double exposure between reality and painting, the present and the afterlife.
