Hey everyone!
Super happy to share that I just got my seventh @communicationarts trophy today in my studio! It’s such an honor that this prestigious institution recognizes my work as a global reference since they’re the largest international trade journal of visual communication.
It’s been about 18 years since I started this amazing journey in type design, and I’m so grateful for everyone who’s crossed my path. Some of them are now really good friends, while I’ve lost touch with others, but each one has taught me something invaluable.
On a personal note, it feels great to have my work recognized and appreciated, especially since calligraphy is sometimes overlooked in the design world: Some say design and art go through trends; things come and go. But my goal has always been to deliver quality work, and I’ll keep pushing for that.
There’s still so much to learn.

Estoy muy feliz de haber recibido hoy en mi estudio mi séptimo trofeo de Communication Arts. Es realmente un honor, que semejante institución elija mi trabajo como referente mundial.
Hace aproximadamente 18 años que comencé con está hermosa locura que es el diseño tipográfico y estoy muy agradecido a todas las personas que pasaron por mi camino. Con algunos hoy somos muy buenos amigos, con otros he perdido un poco el rastro, pero todos han dejado increíbles enseñanzas para mí.
En lo personal, me hace muy bien que sigan reconociendo mi trabajo y valorándolo puesto que mi enfoque, la caligrafía, a veces queda un poco relegada en el ámbito tipográfico: Algunos dicen que en el diseño y en el arte hay modas; que todo va y viene; pero lo que yo intento dar desde mi lugar, siempre, es trabajo de calidad, y seguiré esforzándome por eso.
Aún hay mucho por aprender.

ICYMI: My latest font, Cisne, is now available!
Cisne 🦢 is a display serif built on a tension: tightly packed vertical strokes set against large, open, near-perfect circular forms. It began as an ode to Stunt Roman, an Art Deco alphabet first appearing in the Speedball Lettering Manual of 1929. Designed by Ross F. George and known for its expressive swashes and refined curves — an alphabet made, in George’s own words: to show off.
Sproviero pushes that logic into new territory: swashes explored more deeply, serifs more pronounced, subtle ligatures appearing naturally without breaking the flow. Like a swan, it moves smoothly on the surface while holding a more complex structure underneath. As a variable font with weight and x-height axes — and a range of alternates — it offers that same depth at every size and weight. Suited to editorial and branding work that demands both presence and refinement.

I’m very happy to have my work selected once again for Tipos Latinos X. @tiposlatinos_ar
In this edition, three of my typefaces—Feline, Bestia, and Venganza—were selected. Two of them, Venganza and Feline, received a Constancia de Excelencia, which makes it even more special. ⭐️⭐️
It means a lot to me and gives me a strong push to keep working, exploring, and going deeper into a craft I truly care about.

🏆 I’m so happy and honored to have received an award at the 2026 Typography Competition by Communication Arts, for my latest font Feline.
It still feels a bit unreal to say this is my eighth trophy, but more than anything, I’m grateful that my work continues to resonate after all these years. I’ve always tried to stay true to my expressive approach — exploring the plastic beauty of the letterform, and playing with flourishes and swashes not just as decoration, but as a way to push the emotional and visual limits of type.

Feline began as an interpretation of lettering I once saw on a pinball machine. Over time, it evolved into something ‘liquid and groovy,’ reminiscent of 1960s scripts—but with a twist: the letters never connect. Each character stands on its own, flaunting every curve from start to finish. Drawn with the logic of a pointed brush, Feline is a Variable font with terminals ranging from sharp to extra sharp and weights from thin to extra black, thickening toward the center of each letter.
