This Saturday, March 7th at 10am @solvepnw is hosting another volunteer-led cleanup along the Springwater Corridor. Help us keep the this vital transit and recreation corridor beautiful! SOLVE will provide hi-viz vests, gloves, trash pickers, and bags on site while we’ll be providing a couple bikes to haul trash out to the staging area in front of the shop. Back in 2014 we began importing the Danish trike brand Butchers & Bicycles, a unique tilting three wheeler with a specially designed front end to allow easier and sharper turning compared to a typical trike. We sold over a dozen, with many being shipped off to flatter parts of the country. They’re an odd bike, but for some riders they’re the perfect cargo tool. One Portland family has over 15,000 miles on theirs!
Last year we heard murmurs that B&B were sadly going out of business, so during our visit to Copenhagen last summer we made a pilgrimage to their HQ to find it had indeed been shuttered 😔 Today, we sent home our very last B&B MK-1 that had been sitting in our loft for a few years. Its new owner, Josh, has big plans to build a mobile radio communications bike intended to be used in disaster response when phone and internet signal is lost (a project funded by Portland State University). While this officially brings our trike-era to a close, we will continue to offer service on these special bikes as long as we possibly can! Happy New Bike Day Josh!!
