Here’s a little peak into the behind the scenes of ‘K5054’’s trip. For this leg in particular, soaring over the Scottish Highlands alongside two RAF Typhoons.
In case you missed it, working with the Royal Air Force, we flew the aircraft on a tour of Great Britain in a series of 9 flights - one for every decade of the Spitfire’s 90 years of existence being commemorated.

Well today we are stepping inside the boots of our dedicated engineers as they get the iconic C-47 started at Southampton airport.
This was the final start for the Dakota before heading home after escorting the iconic K5054 at a number of points around her trip of the UK 💪

‘K5054’ has now returned home to Goodwood, after two weeks of incredible flights commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Spitfire.
On behalf of us all at Spitfires.com and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, we would like to thank everyone who has played a part in this anniversary, from the squadrons and companies who have flown alongside us, to the stations and airports who have hosted us, the auction winners who have enabled us to support the @marklongtrust and @rafbf , and of course to anyone who has supported and followed our journey. It’s been an incredible two weeks, with memories made that will last a lifetime.

Spitfire90 Trip mission accomplished! 🍾
A massive accomplishment from the team and all that have supported the trip, a special thanks to @rafbbmf for the time and effort put in place to make it all happen and a big well done to The Telegraph competition winner Susie!
For the final flight of #Spitfire90, we were joined by @astro_timpeake who flew on board the Dakota from Exeter to Southampton.
Tim has been involved in Spitfire90, having judged the competition run by the @telegraph where one lucky winner was able to win a flight in ‘K5054’ as she returns back to @goodwood later today!

Another two flights complete today after ‘K5054’ departed from St Athan, landing first at St Mawgan (Cornwall Airport Newquay) and then into Exeter Airport.
During the morning flight, we were joined by two @qinetiqgroup Pilatus PC-21 aircraft for part of the journey, and this afternoon ‘K5054’ was escorted into Exeter Airport by the BBMF Dakota.
We’d like to thank QinetiQ for their involvement and support to #spitfire90, Cpl Hobbs for capturing the images yesterday with the Texan, @darren.harbar for capturing the images today of the Spitfire alongside the Pilatus PC-21’s and Sgt Lee Matthews (@callsign.kodak ) for the images taken from onboard the Dakota!
The end is near for #spitfire90 as we complete the final flight back into @sou_airport tomorrow, before ‘K5054’ returns to the home of @spitfiresdotcom at Goodwood Aerodrome and the Dakota returns here to @rafconingsby .

Despite the weather, ‘K5054’ departed from @royalairforcevalley today and has arrived at MOD St Athan!
After meeting over Caernarfon Bay with two Texan T1 aircraft and a Jupiter HT1 helicopter, both from RAF Valley, ‘K5054’ flew along the coast around Wales whilst making her way to St Athan.
Due to the flight cancellation yesterday, subject to the weather conditions, ‘K5054’ will fly on to RAF St Mawgan tomorrow morning, and on to Exeter tomorrow afternoon. Route information will be posted as soon as possible.
