We are only a few nights away from our tenth edition of the Muscle Memory series now and we’re all getting super hyped up to dance!! 🙌
This Saturday night at The Grindstone will have LArA, a longtime community member and scene collaborator from back in the days of Transient and Connect behind the decks as our featured guest DJ while our chief party officer Taimoore sets the tone for the evening and Vendor and I team up as Wet Floor again to close us out!
LArA aka Gerardo is not only an incredible DJ and inspirational artist in his own right but also a dear old friend who in typical artist fashion moved away to somewhere with a bit more action so we are beyond excited to have him back in town for our humble little party series. ❤️
We look forward to seeing some of you on the dance floor and as always, long live the underground! 💪
We are IX (9) Muscle Memory parties down now and by the looks of it we are not going to be slowing down any time soon either! 💪🧠
This has been an absolutely incredible and artistically fulfilling project to be a part of thus far and the (relatively) small but dedicated community that is steadily taking shape around it is and has always been what it’s all about!
We are a small but passionate crew with less core members than you can count on one hand but it’s the ever changing cast of friends and supporters who come out each month that really form it into the communal space and experience that it has become so for that I am endlessly grateful. I believe I can confidently speak for the rest of the team when I say that as well.
Thank you again to all of the artists, vibers and dancers who have made it out so far and a massive thank you and shout out to the amazing theatre staff along with my fellow crew mates for everything they put in to make it happen each month as well. It truly is a collaborative effort but a special shout still goes out to @taimoore.b for his initial concept and many contributions not to mention hauling the extra subs out each party to ensure the sound is always at it’s best!
Some might already know that in addition to music stuff I also take care of the lights and visuals for each party and it has been the perfect outlet and testing ground to practice and progress on my own personal style and craft. The clips are from our last handful of parties in chronological order to showcase the evolution of my visuals as I’m very stoked with how my latest experiments turned out! Deficit Theory returns, this time around we are taking over @grindstonetheatre for an evening of uncompromised and stripped back Techno for the discerning clubbers. We have a special set from Umbral Sound’s own @tinykeekz that will showcase a different pallet than her usual repertoire. We are also ecstatic to have @spellz4k finally take us on a trip through his impeccable taste and curation on our system. Of course, I will be there to round out the session with his focused and stripped back fringes of club sonics.

I’m incredibly honoured to be closing out this next one for Alberta’s own Neal K, a heavyweight in the local techno community and all around great guy. The last time we had the opportunity to open for him at 9910 we were blown away by his skills and selections so we can’t wait to see what he has in store for this one!

Been sleeping on the updates lately but this past weekend was an absolute banger! Muscle Memory III was our rowdiest party yet and I’m just so unbelievably stoked to have been able to give my good homie @angelscience_ a solid reason to come back up north and bless us with some dark hymns in our humble little home base @grindstonetheatre .
I may have spent the entire time hiding up in the FoH booth but just know I appreciated every tune played and every head out on the dance floor. 🤍
So incredibly grateful to and proud of my partner @mintymelon and my crewmate @taimoore.b for all of the hard work they’ve put into promoting and making this show a reality, including dropping an amazing closing b2b set to bring the night home!

We are 3 nights out and so excited to be debuting our Muscle Memory series with none other than TAF aka Derek Lee as our main guest DJ!
With over a decade of experience hosting and organizing marathon dance parties in DIY venues like parks and warehouses (iykyk) alongside local crews like Refuge and Connect he has been one of the major forces in propelling the Edmonton underground dance scene forward.
His eclectic taste and extensive music collection can at least in part be attributed to his frequent trips to American dance music birthplaces like Chicago and Detroit.
We are absolutely thrilled to have him and can’t wait to see what he has in store for us! 🦾🧠
The last few years I’ve sort of put my solo DJ/production stuff on ice in order to focus more on Archive, my visuals, and duo stuff with my partner via Wet Floor. However, this past weekend at Wicked Woods and by extension the whole summer and especially the last few gigs I’ve played have really inspired me and reinvigorated my passion and desire to produce and play out cool music. 💅
I won’t go on and on in this post but I will just say there is lots in the works regarding regular local events with an emphasis on growing and nurturing the scene through a multitude of different art disciplines and forms of expression.
Mad respect to all the organizers, artists, crews and volunteers who made Wicked Woods happen, excellent way to cap off the summer festival season and especially big shout to @portalcrewproductions in particular for always doing up my favourite stage ever!

We are now two nights out from our third instalment of Soundgarten at Grindstone, an intimate party series created to give a platform to the plethora of talent within the local underground dance scene.
For this edition we have two DJs joining us who have both been instrumental forces in the local scene for years now, from Mistress Mangladesh’s deep connections to the western Canadian festival scene to Silent Partner’s experience in helping throw some of the city’s most respected all night techno functions throughout the past decade, both are veteran ravers with a long history of seriously loving good tunes. We are especially stoked to hear some dialed in original tunes from, Silent Partner. 👀

Cyberfunk 2023, What a legendary set of parties! Had a complete blast throwing down in the techno basement alongside some incredibly talented homies!
Those of you who know me well enough know just how big of a cyberpunk dork I am so this theme was absolutely right on point for me and my nerd heart is very full right now from taking in all the incredible cyberpunk artwork and costumes all weekend! 😤
