Rotterdam series @sounding__here and @___eat_your_feelings___ will meet under one roof for an exciting exchange in three acts between artists and audience. As a playful encounter between sound and the senses, this crossover between disciplines is an invite to meet two musical artists through the interaction of sounds and the palpable medium of food. Sounding Here continues to bring together artists who are in the process of research. Now in this series of 3 events the notion of sound and its multiple dimensions is expanded into taste with Eat Your Feelings.
Together we create a bridge between the senses and turn musical perspectives into snacks that are imagined, packaged and served in playful ways, inviting the audience to further connect and also immerse themselves in the performance.
Featuring:
𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲𝗿 @yannapelser
Put violist and composer Yanna Pelser in a box at your own behest. You won’t see many artists switch between classical, pop and improvised music so effortlessly – not to mention with such originality.

vixnde*, pronounced viande, meaning “meat” in French, is the product of a lifetime by Brussels-born singer-songwriter Viana Afoumou. Her genre? Raw pop.

✨solo violin-electronics set
Gustavo Cabrera is an Argentinian, Salvadorean, American, Dutch violinist and composer who prefers to not have to divide himself into different nationalities, although they each do represent different chapters in his life. Each different corner of the world he has lived in, has influenced and taught him different sounds, rhythms, and ways of thinking about music. From soloist with classical orchestra, tango or Brazilian melody driven, Turkish or Irish jigged dances, he has immersed himself through genres as a performer and experimented as a composer. This concert provides the space to seek where his acoustic manipulations (electronic?) will take him. Where once each country seeks to limit its own culture, each genre tends to cross over the lines.

Who’s playing at Sounding Here is this Friday?
We’ve invited Berlin based artist @claire.dickson (UK) as part of her EU tour
Claire Dickson (solo voice, synth, composition) performs her original compositions fusing song, vocal experimentation, and electronics.
Claire Dickson is a vocalist and producer composing emergent, embodied song. She considers song to be an artistically flexible modality and a research orientation. Her work utilizes microphones, pedals, synthesizers, field recordings, acoustic instruments, and draws from lineages of improvisation, extended vocal technique, sampling, and deep listening. Her two solo albums, Starland (2022) and The Beholder (2024, New Amsterdam Records), have been praised as “enticingly atmospheric… growing in depth and substance on return visits,” by The Wire, and DownBeat highlighted her “striking – at times wordless – lyricism.” Her work has also appeared in Bandcamp New & Notable, Harvard Magazine, Dummy Mag, Digital in Berlin, New Sounds (WNYC), and All Songs Considered (NPR). Her forthcoming EP Through (2025) uses electromagnetic microphones to capture the hidden language of city electronics, weaving ATM hums, router ticks, and synthesizers into tactile, shimmering songs. In March 2026, she will release her third full-length album with New Amsterdam Records.

Sounding Here this Friday at @worm_rotterdam
Featuring Sealf @sealfsoundmusic
Thomas Myrmel - Voice, tbn, electronics
Jonathan Nagel @jon.on.bass - Cb, electronics
// a sonic salve for an abrasive era //
In December 2019, Myrmel had the opportunity to join a group of researchers on a short expedition to Antarctica. During the ten days aboard the Antarctic vessel, he trekked across ice floes, kayaked among icebergs and islands, assisted scientists in collecting data, and attended their lectures on various disciplines. It was an extraordinarily unique and beautiful experience – intimate, inspiring, calming, and genuinely life-changing.
But this took place against the backdrop of a serious threat: Antarctica, whose vulnerability to climate change is widely known, is at risk of losing its protected status. There is an urgent need for artists and scientists to join forces in raising awareness about Antarctica’s precarious situation. It was in that moment that Love Songs for Antarctica was born – as a way to cultivate a deeper love for our only home – and for Antarctica, the beating heart of it – within the human species.
About Sealf
Sealf is the joyous product of the universal coincidence where electronic wizard Thomas Myrmel crossed paths with bassist and soundsmith Jonathan Nagel. Together they explore the farthest reaches of song form, deftly weaving melodies with soundwalls and trilling frequencies drawing the listener into a sonic meditation sculpted into Myrmel’s evocative lyrics.

TONIGHT @csc_music hosts the Heavy Hearts Tour at @batavierhuis Theaterzaal ❤️🔥
Three sonic universes collide in an evening of explorations, experimentations, and risks. NYC’s @333medium brings slow-burn noise and heavy textures with saws and samplers, cutting a fine line somewhere between a séance and a basement rave. @ouijawiji molds improvisation into sonic risk & narrative while @show_pony__ sculpts experimental distorted dream worlds.

avant-garde, genre-blurring sound explorations
Fri 18 July 2025
WORM Rotterdam
July’s edition brings together two performances which approach the topic of belonging, developed by two pioneering artists, Marie Schreer (DE/UK) and Dorota Matejová (SK/NL) in creative dialogue with 10 composers and 2 poets across almost as many countries of origin.
This intercultural programme features violin, traverso, voices, poetry, movement, improvisation and video – the performances speak to unique experiences of movement, adaptation, and a search for home.

Sounding Here: Many homes between
avant-garde, genre-blurring sound explorations
Fri 18 July 2025
WORM Rotterdam
This July, two innovative performances by Marie Schreer and Dorota Matejová explore belonging, created in collaboration with 10 composers and 2 poets from across the globe.
Through music, poetry, movement, and video, the works reflect on migration, identity, and the meaning of home.
Co-facilitated by actress-activist Nikki Manuputty and curator Christine Cornwell, the evening invites you into a shared, immersive experience shaped by dialogue and reflection.
Until Between
Violinist Marie Schreer curates a sonic journey through themes of home and identity, featuring new works by herself, Aaron Holloway-Nahum, Ashkan Behzadi, and poet Taher Adel. The programme asks what it means to belong across shifting cultural, emotional, and linguistic landscapes.
DOMOVY: 2 HOMES
Dorota Matejová’s deeply personal project explores life between two countries. Through poetry, traverso, voice, and layered sound, and in collaboration with seven composers, she reimagines home as a soundscape of longing, memory, and place.
Sounding Here presents “Many Homes between” on 17 + 18 July two programs and two soloists in dialogue, @marieschreer brings:
“until between”
This programme and accompanying album recording, curated by violinist Marie Schreer, is based on notions of origin and belonging, geographically, emotionally and linguistically.
“until between” is centred around three new works by Marie Schreer, Aaron Holloway-Nahum @aaronhollowaynahum ,and Ashkan Behzadi, as well as a new poem by Taher Adel @wordsbytaher
“The idea for this project arose from a desire to understand and articulate feelings of disconnection versus belonging and being transient versus being rooted. These contemplations are experienced by many who navigate various cultures, languages, and histories and I am forever fascinated by everyone’s individual stories and views. Is it possible to truly, fully belong in multiple places at once, or must we always choose one place to call ‘home’?”
Featuring:
Marie Schreer - composer, violin, voice
Aaron Holloway-Nahum - composer, electronics, video
Ashkan Behzadi - composer
Taher Adel - poetry
“Praised by The Strad as ‘a champion of music of various genres,’ UK-based violinist Marie Schreer is a captivating force in both the world of contemporary music and the Western classical tradition. As a soloist, she has premiered works at renowned festivals such as the HCMF UK and Nordic Music Days and performed with orchestras such as Royal Northern Sinfonia and United Strings of Europe.
As co-Artistic Director and violinist of the Riot Ensemble, Marie plays a pivotal role in shaping the ensemble’s bold and fearless approach to contemporary music. She also holds the position of Section Leader of Second Violins with The Hallé in Manchester, and is in high demand as a guest principal and leader with orchestras and ensembles across the UK.”
