📝 (3/7) Hyping Hypocrisy: What, Why, and How We Lost Critical Questioning. The story behind the story: I had submitted to an open call for this design magazine. They were looking for “honest and personal” essays about design and creativity. I pitched my idea for a piece around “what-, how-, and why-people”. They loved the idea, and I was commissioned. In collaboration with one of their editors, I wrote this piece about the lack of why-people in our industry and society. They told me to remove a few “harsh sentences”, such as “Why are we promoting Coca-Cola when we could be campaigning for peace?” But other than that, it was good. I was done. Until I received an email: “Hey Sophie. We are just about to go to print, and we have decided to remove your essay.” I asked, “Why?” I was told that it was “too personal”. So here you have it. Not the final version, but the version where I keep my critical questions as they are. My writing will always be personal, because I believe in the importance of legitimizing personal voices, stories, and perspectives. Including my own. And to all my fellow why-people: I see you. We often conclude, “This is why I can’t have a normal job”. Should it really be like that? I hope you’ll enjoy my third chapter of “Hyping Hypocrisy”. Read via my website: sophiegevind.com

🇰🇷 When I first saw the pictures, I thought "I look so Korean." And that's a first. At least the first time I felt really proud and happy about that. Thank you for giving me such a meaningful and important experience @oliviacholund & @_markdextersaco 💙 @finding_you_to_find_myself is a project of cultural identity exploration. A red thread that weaves together immigrants, multicultural individuals, and those subjected to adoption, revealing one of the many facets that shape who we are: our Koreanness. P.S. I got the red tattoo in Seoul. It says "guksu (국수)" and means "noodles"

FREE FLAGS 🏴 Commissioned by KUNE 2025 @kunekbh FREE FLAGS intend to be thought-provoking, and even more so, question-provoking. Flags carry strong symbolism. They can represent conquest, peace, advertising, history, culture. They belong to everyone and no one, it’s all about the situation, time and viewer. Fabric moving in air is in many contexts considered holy, unifying, dividing. As soon as you modify it, or even re-purpose it, it feels blasphemous, provoking. Why does it read so strongly on moving fabric than on printed paper? I am not where? I am here? What is the flag actually saying? THANK YOU for the trust and kindness to the whole KUNE team 🩷 In many ways you have several times allowed me to expand my creative practice by allowing me to practice on your stage. Extra big heart thank you for the care and coordination to @chiarabastoni & @maiwennblnt 🍀🌸 Merci for the graphic and production support to my all time favourite project-partner @andrivet 🤝 🏴🏴‍☠️🏴🏴‍☠️🏴🏴‍☠️🏴🏴‍☠️🏴 YOU ARE NOT THERE YOU ARE HERE

Public Service is almost 3 years 🏴🏴🏴 Currently very emotional about it. Like as if I am just now realising what the last years have been like. We made something truly special that I will always be proud of 🖇️ Looking forward to invite friends to housewarming in the rainbow soon ≠ 🌈 @publicservice.agency

(2/7) Hyping Hypocrisy: A Critical Analysis of the Creative Industry ✏︎ Part 1 + 2: Published on @substack (link in bio) Part 1 set a lot in motion. Suddenly there were both Evil Bank employees and politicians in my inbox. But also advertising mad mens and hopeless students. It’s (actually a bit) scary how much we agree. Deep down, we all know it: That promoting destructiveness and applauding it at award shows is shitty, and we’d all actually rather do without it. I hope that I and @publicservice.agency can do our part to show you and them that it is possible to choose something different. It’s not easy, but nothing is. Especially not at the moment. I dream of seeing all those in my inbox dare to speak loudly and honestly about the world they dream of. Maybe then we could realise that it’s the same world. We’ve just forgotten that we have the power ourselves to get there. I believe that the revolution lies in the work. Happy reading. ✏︎ Part 2 er først udgivet på dansk hos Kforum
