FREE FLAGS intend to be thought-provoking, and even more so, question-provoking.
Flags carry strong symbolism. They can represent conquest, peace, advertising, history, culture. They belong to everyone and no one, it’s all about the situation, time and viewer.
Fabric moving in air is in many contexts considered holy, unifying, dividing. As soon as you modify it, or even repurpose it, it feels blasphemous, provoking.
Why does it read so strongly on moving fabric than on printed paper? I am not where? I am here? What is the flag actually saying?
