Running a deep tech neuroscience company centred around the nervous system is not calm work. There’s an irony I sit with every day. I make a device that helps regulate the nervous system, and my nervous system is constantly being tested. So I’ve had to get deliberate about what works in terms of actual, repeatable practice that’s grounded in the science. If you’re a fellow founder, I’m sure you can relate! 1️⃣SONA every morning and evening for ten minutes. It’s not a ritual for the sake of having one. The vagus nerve stimulation primes my parasympathetic nervous system before the day starts and settles it back down before I try to sleep. My HRV tracks whether it’s working. Usually, it is. 2️⃣Music at 70bpm, no vocals. There’s real neuroscience behind this: tempo influences cognitive state and lower BPMs loosely sync with resting heart rate, holding the brain in a focused state of low arousal. I put it on when I need to think clearly and stop fighting the noise. 3️⃣Lists, seriously! Everything out of my head and onto paper. This is a productivity habit with direct neuroscience behind it: working memory has finite capacity, so when it fills with unresolved tasks, your prefrontal cortex starts to throttle. Writing it down closes those open loops and frees up the cognitive bandwidth you actually need. 4️⃣Notifications off. The anticipation of a notification alone is enough to fragment attention, meaning your brain is already partially elsewhere before it even arrives. None of this is groundbreaking, but the gap between knowing and doing is exactly where most founders quietly lose their calm. We’re celebrating our first 1000 sessions from our early adopters, AKA 1000 sessions of nervous system intelligence 🎉🎉🎉 🧠Here’s what your nervous systems are telling us so far: 🔹An average HRV increase of 10ms in every session, about an 18% jump from baseline level. This shift is a tangible indicator of the body moving back into balance. Many users are recording significantly higher. 🔹We’re also seeing the emergence of “super-users”, our top 20% of users who are seeing a dramatic jump in their data during SONA sessions, well beyond average. There are two things to remember to keep the experience effective for everyone: 👉The physical hardware can be shared between multiple people. 👉Every person needs their own separate app account.
