Excited to share my first essay with @further.reading ! It’s a personal take on dining table and the vibe of understated luxury. Big thanks for the opportunity, hope to write more pieces ahead! 🍷🍷🍷
Yokoo is now 87 years old. Even so, the pace at which he produces his work shows no sign of slowing down, and he can be found in front of a large canvas almost daily. In his own words, he paints what he wants to paint 'intuitively, rather than using reason'. His studio and home are located in a simple residential area called Setagaya, a short distance from the centre of Tokyo. His studio is a space overflowing with energy, where materials such as books of pictures and photographs, in addition to half-completed can-vases, are scattered around. On the other hand, Yokoo's home, fittingly eccentric with its pink and red exterior walls, has a quiet atmosphere, with a soft, natural light coming in.
