We are delighted to announce that Boy Dancer, a compelling new exhibition at Solstice Arts Centre, will open to the public on 11 April 2026. A Solstice commissioned project, Boy Dancer interweaves a series of poems by Ní Churreáin, with line drawings, and installation by McCann, exploring grief, ritual and transformation. As a response to Boy Dancer, the exhibition includes drawings, wall paintings, a sound installation and a sculptural work titled ‘Turn Again’. To mark the exhibition’s opening, we warmly invite you to join us for a special Opening Reception and In Conversation event. As part of the opening, poet @annemarienichurreain artist @niamhmccnn and poet and journalist Gerard Smyth will come together to discuss the themes and inspirations at the heart of the exhibition. This conversation will open up the creative processes behind the work, offering insight into the cultural, emotional and artistic currents that shape Boy Dancer. We look forward to welcoming you for a conversation of art, dialogue and connection as we celebrate this new show at Solstice as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations. The exhibition continues until 6 June 2026 📅Date: 11 April 2026 ⏰Time: 2:30pm 🎫Free Admission | Booking recommended BOOK NOW: solsticeartscentre.ie

Veteran rocker Nick Kelly (The Fat Lady Sings) sets out to cycle from his home in Dublin to Glastonbury in THE SONG CYCLE, screening this Friday at Solstice. Followed by a post-screening Q&A (and some tunes too!) with director/musician Nick Kelly @nickkellymoviemusicmusings 📅 Fri 22 May 2026 ⏰ 7:30pm 🎫 Tickets from www.solsticeartscentre.ie In this documentary, Kelly (The Fat Lady Sings) carries his guitar, tent, and all other necessities on his bicycle, playing shows in towns while making his way to Glastonbury. He is accompanied by his great friend and musical partner, Sean Millar, who tracks his progress using public transport and joins him onstage every night. While inspired by environmental concerns, The Song Cycle turns out to be about other forms of sustainability too. Ultimately it encourages viewers to stay in the saddle and keep pedalling, whatever the weather, traffic, or gradient faced. Cinema tickets also available as part of our film season bundle! Book 4+ films for just €6.50 each.

'A vision for your catchment' was the critical question explored today in our first Take Me to the River event of 2026. Hearing the accomplishments of Maureen Byrne and Robert Bergin of @inlandfisheriesireland and witnessing it first hand along a stretch of the Skane River with MCC Biodiversity Officer Ben Malone encouraged conversations, networking and positive actions across counties. Our visual response to micro organisms collected was led by artist @anna_marie_savage as we translated magnified forms into expressive abstract artworks. An inspirational start to @national.biodiversity.week , thank you to our hosts at Dalgan Park, facilitators and all participants for their willingness to share, explore and respond to the river as a living, meandering structure, vital to the health of our ecosystems. @meathcoco @theheritagecouncil #artandscience #artandenvironment #riverhealth #biodiversity
