Hi dear friends, I’d like to invite you to an event this Sunday that I had the pleasure of making the flyer for. As the lotus defrosts, I hope to share more about recent and upcoming projects.
Join the wonderful artist & friend @papalia_carmen at Lobe Studio this Sunday for Weather for the Blind, a live audio performance utilizating the Weather Warlock, modulating sounds captured theough the atmosphere. The event is taking place this Sunday, Feb 15 •• 4pm to 6pm •• at Lobe Studio •• located at 713 E Hastings St, Vancouver.
The event will feature ASL interpretation, sound description, and visual description. Carmen has worked hard to transmit a sound performance that is as accessible as possible within capacity 🪷🧊📡 hope to see you there!
ID: A vertical flyer on a pale blue paper background. The header features Weather for the Blind in a bold, neutral Linear Sans-Serif, followed by Carmen Papalias name in a high-contrast Modern Serif. The central focal point is a grainy, bitmapped illustration of a lotus flower, utilizing a high-contrast stipple or dithered texture that references industrial xerography. The Lobe Studio font at the bottom is rendered in a fluid, warped display typeface with organic, melting letterforms. A continuous border of micro-text in a condensed font encapsulates the layout, detailing location and accessibility features including ASL interpretation, sound description, and visual description.

I was so lucky last year to have @kali_spitzer_photography shoot photos for @artbasel ~ this is one of few images that honestly depicts how my hands can be makers one day, and be of little use the next. I often have to retrain my hands after not being able to dress, cook and care for myself, retrain the dexterity to sculpt and create.
thank you @kali_spitzer_photography 🪼🤍for taking this photo, for your talents and your otherworldly photography!

This work is about precious seeds, plants, cells and lives impacted by insecticides & herbicides like Round-Up.

I try not to share works out of proudness since most of these sculptures I made in a temporary / makeshift kitchen setup, they’ve been experiments. The sculptures were test subjects of their own in unknown environments and climates ~ thinking of the most vulnerable plants, beings and seeds.

things feels best when I remind myself of my own insignificance in the world. our feelings aren’t always divine, but life is.
