Here is another iteration of my hoop act 'Carousel' performed at the gala show at
@firedrumsfestival three years {!} ago. I was recovering from covid and feeling nervous about performing in front of my peers at a flow festival for the first time. Despite some challenges, I nailed every move and the many hours spent crafting each moment and rehearsing felt like it had paid off ✨
I've put together and performed a handful of acts before but none of them felt as good as this particular one ~ it felt like hitting flow state in act creation for the first time. It felt like I was able to showcase all that I had in technical tricks, choreography, and character work. Building this act became a lesson not only in act creation, but a learning experience to keep creating because one day, for three fleeting minutes, everything will feel dialed in and perfect in all the ways you want.
It's been a gift to experience the waves of creation over years of performing stage acts, and I'm so excited to be leading a workshop called 'Act Building & Narrative Hooping' at
@oasishoopretreat this September. It'll be an in depth examination of my methods and thoughts on what makes up a successful stage act. Hope to see you there 🤍
