THANK YOU FOR COMING YESTERDAY! These four months of residency felt like a long journey in Leuven. As the journey unfolded, an image of the country we were living in slowly revealed itself. And with it, a certain image of ourselves. It was an experience beyond my expectations, and for that, thanks to the team at @cascoleuven ; @arthurcordierarthur , @zuzannarachowska , @jonasdehnen , @hanne_bogaert and its community, and @offthegrid_leuven ! Thank you to @kunstpatrimonium.kuleuven , Marianne Toonen, and Soetkin Vanhauwaert for sharing with us the history of the university’s plaster cast collections and opening a few secret doors for us. Thank you @karinborghouts_photography @louisesouvagie and @jerome_meynen for illuminating the path when we needed it most. This Sunday, the studio will be open for “Atelier in Beeld” @cascoleuven from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 🎀

‘𝒜 ℒ𝑜𝓃𝑔 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒰𝓃𝒸𝑒𝓇𝓉𝒶𝒾𝓃 𝒫𝒶𝓉𝒽’ 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬 & 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐕𝐫𝐢𝐣𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 is an artis­tic col­lec­ti­ve for­med by 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐕𝐫𝐢𝐣𝐬𝐞𝐧 and 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬. Working bet­ween mate­ri­al imita­ti­on and spe­cu­la­ti­ve research, they use pain­ting, dra­wing, instal­la­ti­on, and archi­val frag­ments to explo­re the rela­ti­ons­hip bet­ween mat­ter and memo­ry. Their work ques­ti­ons how his­to­ries are pre­ser­ved, silen­ced, or reimagined. During their Off the Grid residency, this approach took the form of a dispersed inquiry across Leuven- its collections, storages, museums, and historical libraries. Guided by curiosity rather than destination, they traced what tends to remain peripheral: hidden and incomplete objects. Drawings, notes, and sound recordings register this movement. WELCOMING - artist-in-residency Stans & Sofia 👀 ⭐️ ⚡️English below⚡️ NL Cas-co kondigt met veel enthousiasme de nieuwe resident van @offthegrid_leuven aan: Stans & Sofia, gevormd door @stansvrijsen & @sofia_boubolis 🌼 Voor hun residentie bij Cas-co verdiept het duo Stans & Sofia zich in de depotcollectie van Museum M, waarbij ze zich richten op objecten die verwaarloosd, onvolledig of slecht gedocumenteerd zijn. Deze objecten, die buiten het zicht van het publiek worden bewaard, dragen latente verhalen met zich mee die vaak door archiefsystemen het zwijgen zijn opgelegd. Waar sommigen louter overblijfselen uit het verleden zien, zijn Stans & Sofia geïnteresseerd in het potentieel van de objecten voor projectie: wat deze nog kunnen activeren, verplaatsen of tot stand brengen. De twee kunstenaars ontmoetten elkaar aan het Van der Kelen-Logelain Instituut voor Schilderkunst in Brussel, waar ze werden opgeleid in negentiende-eeuwse technieken van decoratieve schilderkunst en materiaalimitatie. 📍Op 18 februari vindt hun Soft Launch plaats @cascoleuven van 18:00 - 22:00. Iedereen is welkom om onze nieuwe residenten te ontmoeten! 🪩 ✨ EN Cas-co is very happy to announce that Stans & Sofia, formed by @stansvrijsen & @sofia_boubolis , is the new artist-in-residency of @offthegrid_leuven ! 🌼 For their resi­d­en­cy at Cas-co, Stans & Sofia duo immer­ses itself in the reser­ves of Museum M, focu­sing on objects that are neglec­ted, incom­ple­te, or poor­ly docu­men­ted. Kept out of public view, the­se objects car­ry latent his­to­ries, often silen­ced by archi­val sys­tems. Where some see rem­nants of the past, Stans & Sofia are inte­rested in their poten­ti­al for pro­jec­ti­on: what the­se objects can still acti­va­te, dis­pla­ce, or bring into being. The two artists met at the Van der Kelen – Logelain Institute of Painting in Brussels, whe­re they trai­ned in nineteenth-cen­tu­ry tech­ni­ques of deco­ra­ti­ve pain­ting and mate­ri­al imita­ti­on. 📍On February 18th their Soft Launch will take place @cascoleuven from 18:00 - 22:00. Rejected from Olympus, Hephaestus took refuge beneath Etna. There, he built his atelier. On the surface, a few boiled stones and fragments returned to mineral form are left to us, relics of an ancient labor that continues to produce.
