Officially a @joffreyschool grad!!🎓🎓 The past four years have been so much more special than I can put into words. I have the utmost of gratitude for everybody that has been a part of my journey. To my peers, thank you for constantly uplifting and inspiring me, making me laugh, and being my best friends. To my teachers, thank you for constantly pushing me to be my best and shaping me into the dancer I am today. To @bradshelver & @angelicastiskin , a thank you isn’t enough. You both have pushed me to be the best version of myself and your unwavering love and support is something I don’t take for granted. Most of all, I want to thank my parents for being my #1 fans. I am truly blessed to have the most amazing people standing behind me through it all. 16 year old Annika would not believe how far she’s come, and I owe it all to the people that made the place. Cheers to the class of ‘26!❤️

last spring semester show 💐 Sending so much gratitude and love to @adambarruch @emmaowilton @bradshelver @jolianacanaan @pearlmadnick @angelicastiskin and @megpaul_dance for their contributions to our show. It was the last performance in my @joffreyschool journey. I’ve learned so much in my time here, and I would not be the person I am today if not for all of it. CONTINUUM: Our Kinetic Lineage you were one to remember! 🫶🏻

They say trust the process. Well my Student Choreography Workshop experience was the best kind of process✨ From piece proposals to choreographer selections, to dancer choices, to weekly rehearsals, to panel 1 feedback, to weekend rehearsals, to panel 2 final selection, to tech & dress, to final notes, and finally to the stage. The level of commitment, talent, dedication, creativity, hard work, and passion was truly incredible! Honored & grateful for my choreographers @francislfoster_ @sophiecucco @sofia.celio @michy_zal 🫶🏼 It was such a privilege to bring your unique visions to life. 🥰 Thank you for trusting & believing in me! @angelicastiskin thanks for being our guiding light 🤩 @joffreyschool @joffreyschooltrainees

Our 2026 Student Choreography Workshop has come to a close, and we are still reflecting on what a beautiful and meaningful experience it was. What began months ago grew into an evening of work that was thoughtful, vulnerable, and deeply impactful. Each piece carried the time, care, and courage it took to create it. From first ideas to final performances, this process asked our students to take risks, trust themselves, and share something real. We are so proud of every student who was part of this journey and so grateful for the space they created together. A heartfelt thank you to Angelica Stiskin for her artistic leadership, direction, and mentorship of our students throughout this process. Keep creating, keep exploring, and never stop making art. 📸 @laylamshoo #joffreyballetschool #studentchoreography #emergingartists #dancecommunity #newyorkcity

the corporate ladder 3/6/26 choreographed by @dana.craighead and the dancers photos by @katya.tsikina other artists will likely understand the overwhelming feeling that what you create is not just your own. your art is something so much greater than yourself, connecting you to a mysterious energy source. I like to call this source “the void,” because of its vastness, but it is FAR from empty. it is abundant with passion, with connection, with momentum. the closer you are to accessing this source, the more abundant your art becomes. the art of dance is so particular because it is reliant on the people who actively show up in the room in which you create it in. every day of creation is dependent on the connection you have with your dancers. I have learned the right people always show up. this piece is a direct result of having a clear and direct relationship with the void, and a honest and authentic relationship with artists who also have access to the void. I have no other way to explain it but this. it isn’t luck that I know these people, it isn’t luck that we created this together. it felt inevitable. big thanks to the void, for choosing me to lead this piece, for allowing my creative expression to take roots in physical reality. this piece may be about my corporate desk job, but more importantly, it is about my authentic connection with my friends. there is a center point between play and professionalism. there is a center point between left brain and right brain. our path is never definitive, it is abundant. to mitra, melissa, nelly, bella, celio, jordan, laniya, gray, zach, tessa, and pearl, thank you for bringing life, energy and fun to the ideas in my head. thank you for being incredible friends!! never have I had more fun leading a process!! 🤎🪜💼 (stay tuned for some videos of the piece to follow!!)

Each work in our Student Choreography Workshop offers a glimpse into the artist behind it, and Year 4 Jazz & Contemporary Trainee Sofia Celio @sofia.celio brings a deeply personal voice to her creation. Rooted in a heartfelt and emotional narrative, her piece weaves in a recorded conversation with her father, offering a unique perspective on life that shapes the tone and intention of the work. Through sharp, staccato movement and moments of vulnerability, the choreography reflects both strength and sensitivity, embodying Celio’s individuality as a dancer and storyteller. It is a work that feels honest, intentional, and distinctly her own, and we are proud to have it premiere as part of this year’s Student Choreography Workshop. Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the incredible choreographers bringing their work to the stage. 📅 April 14, 2026 at 7:30 PM 📍 Five Angels Theater, 789 10th Ave, New York, NY 10019 🎟️ Click the “Student Choreography Workshop 2026” link in bio for tickets. 📸 @laylamshoo #joffreyballetschool #studentchoreography #performance #emergingchoreographers #newyorkcity
