Opening tomorrow in the School of Art Student Gallery, @sofasa and @um.asbc present… 𝙀𝘾𝙃𝙊𝙀𝙎 𝙊𝙁 𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙎𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙀
— an exhibition organized in collaboration with Pride Winnipeg.
At the heart of “Echoes of Persistence” is the unflinching desire to celebrate queer resistance. Through works by students from both the School of Art and Faculty of Arts, the gallery becomes a site of queer assembly.
Join us for the exhibition and for the closing reception, presented as part of the city-wide Pride celebrations, on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 PM.
Refreshments will be provided, along with a free screen-printing station where attendees can print shirts and signs featuring a design celebrating SOA Pride.

‘Exposed’ is inspired by the idea of “Exposure”. These artists draw our attention to what is often hidden. These works explore a myriad of ideas; the self, the film, and what is often hidden to the naked eye. What comes to your mind when you think of the term exposure? What happens when what is ‘Exposed’ is fully under the control of the artist?
The Hydraulic Press - Opening event Wednesday March 18th, 3 - 5 pm, Student Gallery in Tache at the University of Manitoba! We would very much appreciate you coming by to check it out!
By Ghost Nedohin-Macek and Sera Busceti
The Hydraulic Press is a show about the joy (and stressfulness) of the
art school experience. It is about the sleepless nights and copious
amounts of caffeine in an attempt to meet a deadline, but also creating
something you will be proud to say is your work. Showcasing pieces
with various mediums such as paint, printmaking, ink, digital art, and
more, this show is about the experience of an artist practicing and
improving their work throughout their time in school.
The artists of the show wanted an opportunity to showcase
everything they have made throughout their time in the School of Art.
The term “the hydraulic press” being a joke between the two, referring
to the crushing weight of the endless string of assignments as the
semesters go on. This exhibition represents the studio of an artist trying
to meet their deadlines, trust the process, and, of course, make a big
mess along the way.

We're excited to be featuring the art of @b33.was.here in the Degrees art gallery.
Bee Dasuki is a Palestinian artist and third-year student in the School of Art, based in Winnipeg. Working primarily in photography, their practice focuses on movement, street culture, and everyday life, often through skateboarding. By capturing skaters in motion, Bee explores the interplay between control and freedom, documenting fleeting moments of energy and expression. She reflects on themes of identity, belonging, and lived experience, observing the spaces people create for themselves while celebrating individuality and the presence of movement in urban environments.
