Don't forget! Opening 5.30pm tomorrow ✨ HARRIET SCHWARZROCK Eliciting Plasma Illumination as a Responsive and Relational Medium within Blown Glass ⏰ 5.30 – 7.30pm 🗓️ Wednesday 11 March 📍School of Art & Design Gallery This exhibition forms part of Schwarzrock’s Higher Degree by Research (PhD) project. Schwarzrock creates blown-glass objects that explore the relationship between artwork and viewer through luminous, responsive interactions. Working at the intersection of glassblowing, neon fabrication, and scientific glasswork, she produces vascular forms that illuminate through the presence and touch of an observer. These works activate otherwise invisible electromagnetic relationships, inviting viewers into an intimate encounter with plasma as a responsive and relational medium. Schwarzrock graduated with Honours in Visual Arts from Sydney College of the Arts in 1999. Her practice explores biological systems, connectivity, and invisible energies within the body through glass, neon, and plasma. Based in Queanbeyan, NSW, she has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally, with works shown at Canberra Glassworks, Berengo Studio in Murano, Venice, and the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. 🎯 Exhibition dates are 10 – 27 February 2026 ⏱️ Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10.30am - 3.00pm The exhibition will be open on ANU Open Day, Saturday 28 March 10am - 2pm. Opening next 5.30pm Wednesday 11 March 💫 HARRIET SCHWARZROCK Eliciting Plasma Illumination as a Responsive and Relational Medium within Blown Glass ⏰ 5.30 – 7.30pm, 🗓️ Wednesday 11 March 📍School of Art & Design Gallery Harriet is a Higher Degree Research Candidate at the ANU School of Art & Design. Drawing on the dual etymology of plasma as both a luminous state of matter and a vascular component of blood, Schwarzrock creates blown-glass objects that explore the boundaries between object and observer through intimate, luminous interactions within shared electromagnetic fields. Rather than the distant aurora or arcing lightning, familiar plasma phenomena, here illumination is elicited within a glass vessel, harnessing the same electromagnetic principles that once captivated early 19th-century scientific investigation. 🎯 Exhibition dates are 10 – 27 February 2026 ⏱️ Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10.30am - 3.00pm The exhibition will be open on ANU Open Day, Saturday 28 March 10am - 2pm. @harryschwarzrock @anuartdesign @ouranu @studyanu_ Image caption: Studio detail Harriet Schwarzrock 2024, “Nearly, Barely, There”. blown laboratory glass, transformer, ionised gases.
