What a weekend. Shot down to LA for the premiere of #mountainsofthemoon, and finally got to share a project that’s lived in our bones for the last two years. Working side-by-side with this crew some of the most committed, wildly imaginative humans I know has been a rare kind of gift. Huge thanks to @chrisbenchetler for holding the vision with so much heart and grit, and for steering this wild idea with total authenticity. @caraqwilliamson , you absolutely crushed the release. @codemangram and @tylerjhamlet , thank you for pouring so much of yourselves into getting this thing across the line maybe not the finish line, but the starting line of whatever comes next. And to @erin.m.butler —thank you for holding down the fort while I was away and putting up with the fatigue when I returned. Couldn’t do any of this without you. Feeling lucky to have had a hand in shaping the creative energy of this team. Love you all. The film is now touring worldwide. It’s pretty damn special. Go see it: /mountains-of-the-moon

This one feels special.
Every once in a while, you get to be part of a project that truly reignites your creative energy. After 15+ years in the same industry, it’s easy to get jaded by the constant grind of production life — the travel, the deadlines, the endless pursuit of the next thing. Images start to blur together. Even the stories can feel like they’re stuck on rinse-and-repeat. This project started out no different. @sweetgrassp has done the night-skiing thing before… but when @chrisbenchetler calls, you know something bigger is brewing. Chris is one of the hardest-working, most genuine humans out there, and he put everything on the line for Mountains of the Moon. He gathered one of the most talented, dedicated, wildly creative crews in the game, and I feel incredibly grateful to have worked alongside these folks — and get back to what got me into this business. Creating art in an authentic way. This was without question the most physically demanding film project I’ve ever worked on. Nearly 40 nights in the mountains, battling cold, fatigue, weather, and logistics that pushed all of us to the edge. What emerged from the tireless work of athletes, camera ops, lighting techs, editors, producers, PAs, publicists and so many others is something really unique. Something that hasn’t been done. Something worth watching. For now, sit back and enjoy the trailer for 🏔️ of the 🌙.
The film premieres November 14, 2025 in Los Angeles, with a tour to follow. If you want to see the film or join us at a screening, head to Chris’s site:

Another @shambhala_mf in the books for the @sweetgrassp crew! I never thought I’d be attending raves at this ripe age but its people are who keep us coming back year after year. But for real… It’s always a heavy lift producing and surviving creating this content but the imagery that comes from this festival is unlike anything we’d ever be able to create on a film set. Take a peek at human expression at its finest. Day 4 for the Rave. Lastly, Thanks to the marketing team at @shambhala_mf for trusting us with capturing the soul and of this brand. And my business partner in crime @mikaljamesbrown for putting his mind and body on the line to see this thing through. I couldn’t do it without you!

Some of you may already know but I have been helping @chrisbenchetler on a new creative film experience the past year. It has been a logistical puzzle but incredibly rewarding all at the same time. Working with a crew that is willing to go through the wringer and sacrifice body and mind to bring creative vision to life has been a joy to be apart of. ‘Ship of Fools’ is a weekly web series that takes the viewer behind the camera for backstage-access to the creativity, chaos and ingenuity that is going into the film Mountains of the Moon. It’s a raw and unfiltered look into the creative process featuring the cast, crew, and characters as they collaborate on the ambitious ‘Mountains of the Moon’ film project. Wow! It’s pretty wild to see how an idea can grow… 10 years ago the team at @sweetgrassp (myself included) came up with a wild idea to shoot big mountain skiing in the middle of the night. We brought @chrisbenchetler along on that first mission to Alaska and from that our Emmy award winning film Afterglow was born. Well…Chris took that initial idea and ran with it! This past weekend the world got a sneak peak of “Mountains Of The Moon” at @deadandcompany ’s opening weekend at @thesphereofvegas . Visuals from this work in progress were shown during @mickeyhart ’s “Drums in Space” What an honor to take part in the creation of this new project! Congrats to the crew and everyone involved! @mammothmountain @arcteryx Now let’s get back to work. Full experience dropping Fall 2025!

The Ghost Resorts - Chapter 3 Japan Completing these projects can be a heavy lift especially when you add the complexities of shooting in a far off county like Japan. Let’s just say things can get lost in translation quick. Crafting this film with an amazing/trusting crew is what makes it all possible. Only a short 8 years after Jumbo Wild, we’re taking to the road again, touring our latest and greatest, The Meaningless Pursuit of Snow. Bringing the band back together with the original, often imitated, never duplicated, @patagonia , this beauty is about the ridiculously trivial activity of climbing mountains and sliding back down them on snow. And in that pointless pursuit, the incredible depth, purpose, life, death, and beauty that is experienced by our five folks. In the Tetons. And La Grave. Hokkaido. The Wasatch. Cooke City. And East Burke, Vermont. Though they come from distant places with vastly different backstories, they are all chasing the same essentials: a connection to nature, the joy of the struggle, and a community in the mountains they call home. So if you’re keen to rub shoulders with some dehydrated, jittery, fresh-out-the-edit-cocoon, haven’t-seen-a-real-person-in-weeks, awkward-at-the-best-of-times, filmmakers we’d love to meet you @mikaljamesbrown @sweetgrassp and myself. And pretlty film on the big screen for you check out the tour dates below. Patagonia store screening events in the US, Europe, and Japan, New Zealand, and Australia with some of our much more interesting subjects: @vanessa_chav @melissa_m_gill @vfleckwood Atsushi, and Aurelien…. November 8th Bend, OR November 9th Burlington, VT November 9th Seattle, WA November 15th Denver, CO November 16th Cambridge, MA November 16th Salt Lake City, UT November 16th Jackson Hole, WY w/ Teton Mountaineering Link in Bio!

God damn I love love! I’ve been sitting on these photos for a few months now, wanting to do a post about my wedding, but I was nervous I might jinx it all. It was too perfect… We’ll fuck it. My first valentines as a married man seems appropriate to get all gushy and tell the world how lucky I am to have found such an amazing beautiful partner. Yeah these photos make make it all look like a fairy tale, and it was, but it isn’t always. It gets messy as life does but it’s the work and consistency that happens after it gets messy that make it beautiful. @erin.m.butler , thank you for waiting for on me, and sometimes not, helping me to grow, loving my daughter as if she was your own, and reminding me to lighten up and not take myself so seriously. ❤️🛫➡️🌙

My little squirt is turning 7 today! I literally can not comprehend that idea. I am in total awe of her resilience, independence, strong will, and playfulness with life. As my 30s wiz by me she has become my marker of time reminding me to slow down and savor every moment because they literally evaporate. For those of you who don’t have kids and are tired of seeing other peoples posts about their children don’t be fooled. They are total pains in the ass and, I’ll tell you what, I sure have cleaned up my fair share of bodily fluids over the years. They are pretty magical creatures though….

The final count down! In just 9 short days I will be marrying this Babe (with a capitol B)! The nerves and the excitement are overflowing… This women has supported me and my daughter through many phases of growth and I’m eternally grateful to have her in my life. Here’s to many years of love, life and happiness side by side.
