We’ve now had the privilege to do a couple projects for Salesforce with @bayonetmedia , which have really showcased how virtual production can be used for completely custom worlds.
Our team works hand in hand with all aspects of production to ensure a smooth process. In this case, we ported environments originally designed in Sketchup to Unreal Engine for the full ICVFX process. The final results were captured in-camera in realtime!

All episodes of Dark Matter are now streaming on @appletv ! SMASH Virtual had the privilege of working with the production for all their car process work.
This was actually one of the first projects we did at the studio, and the very first meeting happened before our LED panels had even arrived. Throughout the course of production they came batched their car scenes for several episodes and shot them consecutively, which saved a bunch of time.
Their crew was outstanding (and made a snowman in our parking lot) and we are very thankful to @blakecrouch1 and their team for choosing SMASH!

We wanted to showcase a virtual flashlight effect, scripted animations, and how it’s possible to focus directly onto an LED wall with objects that appear to coexist in the same plane as talent.

We’re really excited to finally show this—SMASH Virtual was used for the season finale of @nbcchicagopd for their big car roll stunt.
We worked with the camera, stunts, and FX team to recreate the physical stunt in our studio, where closeups could be shot safely and repeatedly.
We even did a little forced perspective after the roll, simulating the car upside down on the ground. Way safer and easier for actors and crew!

We worked closely with their art department to ensure everything matched the look of their world, which needed to be basic but still feel like a real place. We used Datasmith to get their designs out of Sketchup and into Unreal, where they were textured, lit, and shot.

Our main LED wall is 100 feet long—awesome, but too big for many projects.
Thats why we made Volume B, a smaller and more affordable option for interviews and smaller scale scenes.
it’s has all the same ICVFX capabilities as the large one, just smaller!
For large projects, both can even be run simultaneously for maximum efficiency.
