The ideas and instructions the band had for these illustrations were for example "a leather demon in a swamp drawn in that Theodor Kittelsen style" and "hellhammerian bad-drawing style demons" and for the frames "Bilibin meets Death Metal". Definitely got to do something different than usual, and it was so inspiring! Also a huge pleasure to work with @selkarankojennikamat on this cover collaboration and see how our styles merge together! Thank you!

Buried deep in a grave filled with rare death metal demo tapes!
Really enjoying looking at simple, hand drawn demo tape covers be they from the 90s or today. It's an immensely inspiring genre of drawing to me and the DIY aspect of it is something I hold very dear. This small, kind of cartoonish ink drawing was born with the idea of those drawings in mind.
I've been trying a looser approach to drawing when it comes to using ink and brush. No preliminary sketching, no erasing (would be impossible with this medium anyway), just elaborating on the mistakes I inevitably make along the way until they feel like they were meant to always be part of the drawing.
We invite you to descend plunge through the most rotten chambers of the human mind. Art of Decay is an exhibition of metal illustrations, paintings and whatever where flesh splits, beauty putrefies, and imagination feeds on ruin.

The album’s lead single Solstice is a song about death and returning home, a threshold passage in which life is returned to the soil through the obliteration of the ritual body in extreme winter cold. Slow heavy riffs that rip the skin, crush your bones and rot your intestines.

Also did a frame for their tour poster which is in the 2nd slide. 3rd and 4th slides include a few details from the frame. All of this was hand drawn with microns on paper.

Blasphemy listening mutant freak riding a mummified vessel through a lightning storm!
This driver character was inpired by the skeletal punk on Darkthrone's "F.O.A.D", "Dark Thrones and Black Flags" and "Circle the Wagons" album covers which was inspired by the chainsaw wielding skeletal punk on Slaughter's "Surrender or Die". I started by drawing the mummified head without much thought to how this would turn out in the end, basically just enjoying some full graphite pencils I bought recently on some nice paper.
Feeling the face stick to your fingers while you're dissolving into a pool of gelatinous innards and sizzling rot!
A design for swedish death metallers @cryptorium_swe done a while back. Their debut album "Descent into Lunacy" made a lasting impression on me and I heartily recommend checking it out! It was a pleasure working with these guys!

Did this ink drawing with ink and brushes on paper. Started with a general idea of what I was going to do, then made the outlines of the main shapes and splattered some ink over it to get some random focus points to embellish and build the details around them. Really enjoying using brushes instead of markers at the moment!
