And there it sleeps as the river floods its banks. Radon-powered. Thermal conductive aluminum hairs to keep the core cool. Metal skin. The weathervane rotates, sensing something that’s not quite right. Its energy stores drop. Its eyes blink uselessly. Does it sense that its death is near? A muted alarm howls. A signal blocker. The wind picks up. Humans on the horizon. Like a torch, they wield the weather. Come watch the wheat wilt from the shuddering sound of filters turned almost but not quite all the way off.
