We met @arielleassoulinelichten during Milano Design Week 2026 at @deoron space to discuss her studio @slashobjects , her Glam Minimalism style, and the intersection of music and furniture.

Designer and architect Arielle Assouline-Lichten — founder of Slash Objects, whose previous NYCxDesign exhibitions have been named standouts by the New York Times — transforms her SoHo showroom into an immersive installation of mirror-polished metals and cinematic light.
At its center: the X Deck, a dedicated site for DJ equipment and records conceived as condensed architecture. Crossing mirror-finished stainless steel with high-polish brass, its reflective surfaces pull the surrounding environment into their own geometry, reconfiguring itself through movement.
My Astral Mission examines what happens when a gallery becomes a listening environment — when light and sound share equal authority over a space. The installation makes a case for the physical: that objects can deepen how we experience music, and that design at its most rigorous can also be its most sensory.

Kicking things off is Los Angeles/New York–based DJ @iamamayzing known for her high-energy, genre-blending sets that fuse disco, house, funk and nostalgic pop with a modern edge. Mei is a fixture in the world of the most fashionable fashion parties which matches our vibe completely.
Next is @ivanberko , one of NYC’s finest DJ/Producers who can also be found at his @ntmvsmmxix residency. Ivan has built a name for himself on the global digger scene spinning everywhere from India to Ibiza. Can’t wait to chill with these tunes in the loft.
Finally @kristine_barilli plays our Design Week Closing Party on May 21st. Kristine is a DJ and music supervisor @thelotradio , and has built a reputation for her unique and eclectic sound. She’s a fixture in New York’s music scene, regularly playing at venues such as @peoplesny@publicrecordsnyc , and @knockdowncenter . We are so excited to party with her !!!

I wanted to create a table dedicated to vinyl and dj culture, where the records become an evolving visual over the course of the night. The mirror polished stainless steel takes on the surroundings and becomes a reflection of what is playing. There’s a connection between what you see and what you hear. I love album artwork and thought to put it on display. It helps the DJ organize their next track too. There is more record storage behind, and cables are nicely organized inside.
The mixed metals are a nod to the 70’s era disco vibes, where glamour meets minimalism. 🪩
The deck either comes with @technics_global or can be customized to your equipment. 📟

Developed as both a functional DJ console and a sculptural object, the X Deck integrates playback equipment and vinyl storage into a singular architectural form. Crafted in mirror-finished stainless steel and polished brass, the piece reflects and refracts its surroundings, creating a dynamic interplay of light, material, and sound.
