bill santoro (sl___rp) and @nick_hoeppner celebrate a life turning point of profound significance (hint: it’s bill’s 40th birthday) with an evening of spacey fuzzed out reverb soaked guitar floaters (and probably a few post-hardcore rippers) on @ikii.berlin ’s hi-fi

mosey down and say hi ✌️
i have launched a newsletter, bngrz ltd.
weekly recs for bngrz of all description, delivered to your inbox every friday. there will be other stuff, too, namely intrepid rave reports from dance floors in Berlin and beyond and musings on how bngrz connect to the broader cultural landscape—movies, tv, books, whatever. (teaser: first one is called “on the ramones, fake jizz, and why death is good.”)
paid subscribers get access to the private whatsapp group, already going strong, containing nothing but links to exceptional club tunes. and half your subscription fee will be donated to @americansforimmigrantjustice and @thepcrf
excited to have a regular place to chat breeze about music again, in a way more unhinged than ever before. sign up, give it a whirl, many thanks for your support ✌️

friends and family will know i jump at any opportunity to talk about “freak on a leash” but even without that was an absolute pleasure blurbing @blawan for @pitchfork ’s best albums of 2025🔥🔥
sadly essential reading, digestible in one sitting. from the intro:
“The European history of the twentieth century shows us that societies can break, democracies can fall, ethics can collapse, and ordinary men can find themselves standing over death pits with guns in their hands. It would serve us well to understand why.”
Since Trump was reelected the author of this book and many other scholars on fascism have fled the US. A few weeks ago, one of them, Mark Bray, was inexplicably searched and detained at the airport as he left for Spain, then discovered at the gate that his family’s flight reservations had been cancelled for reasons no one at the airline could fathom. Meanwhile Trump vows to “go to war” (his words) with American cities and uses right wing paramilitaries to arrest innocent civilians.
The future is unwritten but on its current trajectory the US is galloping toward the nightmare scenario described above. See random snippet from last week’s news in the next slide.
also, a more minor point of advice from ‘On Tyranny’: “Make an effort to separate yourself from the internet. Read books.”
a basically perfect novel, not that i’d expect anything less from her. notable passage:
“The whole future—I thought—will be that way, life lives together with the damp odor of the land of the dead, attention with inattention, passionate leaps of the heart along with abrupt losses of meaning. But it won’t be worse than the past.”
