“My hope is we aren’t excluded yet again.” ☀️
We connected with @missmcdole of @sixsquareatx as she shared her thoughts and hopes for the Block 16 & 18 project, with Block 18 consisting of @kennydorhamsbackyard .
Block 16 & 18 is a community-driven project in East Austin focused on preserving and honoring the history of the African American Cultural Heritage District. Through powerful, on-the-ground experiences, they actively support @sixsquareatx , helping amplify the voices, landmarks, and cultural contributions that define Austin’s Black Cultural Arts District. Yesterday wasn’t just a moment, it was purpose in motion. 🎨✨
I had the honor of creating a live painting celebrating Black Excellence, inspired by the incredible @missmcdole . Through my journey, she’s shown me what real relationships look like, rooted in genuine love, support, and legacy.
This piece is more than art. It’s gratitude. It’s storytelling. It’s a reminder that who you walk with matters.
@i3essentialmarketing doesn't just create… we uplift, we honor, and we leave impact. 🖤

We love to see it 🔥
This weekend, the city comes alive for the Austin Blues Festival presented by Antone’s and Waterloo Greenway Conservancy at Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park.
From legendary artists to rising talent, this lineup is a powerful celebration of music, culture, and community.
We’re especially proud to see Huston-Tillotson University represented through the Huston-Tillotson Jazz Orchestra, continuing the legacy of Black music and artistry right here in Austin.
If you’re in the city this weekend, this is definitely one to experience.

Full Circle. Deep Roots. Powerful Stories.
Yesterday, Six Square had the opportunity to join Austin Justice Coalition, Black Austin Tours and One for Justice for a powerful tour across Austin, highlighting the history, resilience, and legacy of the Black community throughout the city.
From Woolridge Square to the historic 6th Street corridor, and meaningful stops at Bethany Cemetery and Victory Grill, each moment told a deeper story about the black people and places that have shaped Austin.
This experience was especially meaningful as it represented a full circle moment for the Austin Justice Coalition, returning to the roots of where their work and impact first began.
We were honored to hear from the Bethany Cemetery Foundation, whose dedication continues to preserve and uplift an essential part of our history, as well as from Bill Wallace, who shared powerful insight on the history of East Austin and what it has meant to him and the community.
Experiences like this are a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Six Square, Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District is not just history, it is a living legacy, and this work extends beyond any one space. It is about connection, history, and community across the entire city, deserving to be preserved, shared, and activated.
