It was a pleasure to attend worship service today at Greater St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church. Thank you Dr. Samuel Tolbert for the wonderful hospitality. It was an honor to visit the new worship center with you and write scriptures on the framework before the walls are installed. I will see you all again soon. They are Kingdom Building! Everything you will ever need is here. Thank you Pastor Tolbert for my tools.

It’s officially live ✨ We’re proud to launch the new Six Square website, a space designed to connect, inform, and celebrate Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District. This platform is more than a website. It is a place to explore the stories, culture, and experiences that define the district, while staying connected to the work happening across our community. A special thank you to @mendcollaborative and @dyme.agency for their partnership, creativity, and dedication in bringing this vision to life. This is just the beginning of how we share and activate the district. Tap in, explore, and stay connected: @blacklifeatx @whereyallatthoughatx @blackleaderscollective @blackgirlaustin @austinjusticecoalition @blackartmattersatx @weoutside.atx 🌐 #SixSquareATX #BlackAustin #CulturalHeritage #AustinTX #Community WeAreSixSquare

If you know me, you know I love a good breakfast. I was so happy to join my friend Rich Samuel @richesartwork at my favorite breakfast spot, #Paperboy. Rich operates the ONLY black art gallery in Austin, Texas @richesartgallery . His mom also has a cute vintage shop that is connected to the gallery. Riches Art Gallery and Events, is a community-centered contemporary art space located within the Six Square African American Cultural Heritage District in East Austin. The gallery is dedicated to advancing cultural equity by providing accessible platforms for underrepresented artists, particularly Black creatives whose work reflects both historical legacy and contemporary lived experience. I recently attended a Jimmy Blazer Day concert there and it was amazing. It is a beautiful venue. After five years in the space, the cost of his space is increasing. Go support Riches and tell him Daphne sent you. #WeAreSixSquare #KeepGoing #BlackCreatives

“My hope is we aren’t excluded yet again.” ☀️ We connected with @missmcdole of @sixsquareatx as she shared her thoughts and hopes for the Block 16 & 18 project, with Block 18 consisting of @kennydorhamsbackyard . Block 16 & 18 is a community-driven project in East Austin focused on preserving and honoring the history of the African American Cultural Heritage District. Through years of planning and engagement, the vision is to create a space rooted in culture, connection, and opportunity for future generations. 🎥 Watch the full interview on YouTube!

I’ve always loved @tiffanyandco ! Thank you so much @reap13art for your incredible craftsmanship. My bracelet feels priceless because of your precise inscription of my initials and rose. It was amazing to watch you work today. I can’t wait to see you again. In the meantime, #KeepGoing! Fun Fact: Ron Powell has been engraving jewelry for Tiffany’s over 20 years. He also worked on the Vince Lombardi and US Open trophies. He’s so kind and has a very unique gift. He is simply amazing! #TiffanyAndCo #BlueBox

For many years I have served as a music and composition judge for ACT-SO, a program that continues to shape the next generation of brilliance. Founded in 1978 by journalist and author Vernon Jarrett, ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) was created to recognize and nurture the genius of Black high school students across the country. And the legacy speaks for itself, participants have gone on to become icons like Kanye West, John Legend, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Decades later, the NAACP continues to carry this vision forward, investing in young talent, celebrating excellence, and building pathways that matter. This is more than a competition. It’s a pipeline of culture, creativity and Black excellence. Congratulations to all of the students and Nelson Linder, Polly Street, and Melinda Walker. It’s always good to see my dear friend and mentor Dr. Shirley Sprinkles. #NAACP #ACTSO #ILoveMyCommunity #BlackExcellence #KeepGoing

If you want to understand the soul of East Austin, you start with @blackaustintours Austin Tours. Their work goes far beyond storytelling—they preserve legacy, elevate truth, and make sure the rich history of Black Austinites is seen, heard, and honored. Through powerful, on-the-ground experiences, they actively support @sixsquareatx , helping amplify the voices, landmarks, and cultural contributions that define Austin’s Black Cultural Arts District. This is what it looks like when history is protected and community is poured back into the places that shaped it. If you haven’t taken a tour yet, you’re missing a piece of Austin’s heartbeat. #AfricanAmericanCulturalHeritageDistrict. #SixSquareMiles #Preservation #2028WillNotBe1928. #100YearsLater

Yesterday wasn’t just a moment, it was purpose in motion. 🎨✨ I had the honor of creating a live painting celebrating Black Excellence, inspired by the incredible @missmcdole . Through my journey, she’s shown me what real relationships look like, rooted in genuine love, support, and legacy. This piece is more than art. It’s gratitude. It’s storytelling. It’s a reminder that who you walk with matters. @i3essentialmarketing doesn't just create… we uplift, we honor, and we leave impact. 🖤 #BlackExcellence #i3Essential #LivePainting #PurposeDriven #LegacyInMotion
