Right, the dance is on! Firstly, with Soul system running a monthly residency at SJQ, we’ve recruited the killer selector that is @sirkells who’ll be with us on the night. Welcome to the family!
Kells has done nothing but support the dance since we started, so it’s only right. He played with us last year and brought rare Groove microphone Don @barrywhite7777 with him, and guess what? He’s back! Guaranteed to be a belter! Check out our Mixcloud for the last dance they did together, and a selectors mix Kells has done for us
The theme for this months poster is ‘The 3 Pieces - Vibes of Truth’ - a solid album from the Fantasy Label, and none other than a Donald Byrd Production

February is for the lovers at the General Echo Reggae Disco, and the heartbroken, and the indifferent… but mainly anyone that is into great tunes! We’ve been wanting to book SIR KELLS for a long time and he did not disappoint, an inspired mixture of slow JA chug, disco diamonds, soulful struts and more. Big up all the dancers, attendees, Trades Hall crew, and especially Jas and Magda again for photos and videos.
We’re back on Friday 13th March with a return visit from the mighty GABBY OCHOA, all the way from Ecuador via Scotland, stick it on your calendar now!
THIS FRIDAY!!! All roads lead once again to the wooden sprung dancefloor of Walthamstow Trades Hall, where we will rejoice under the mirror ball to some sweet, sweet selections from the mighty SIR KELLS, someone that we’ve wanted to book for a long time. This man is as adept as pulling out deep soul diamonds as roots rock reggae from his record box, and will no doubt be spinning 45s appropriate for the date. As always at the General Echo Reggae Disco, EVERYONE is welcome, regardless of age, class, race, gender, sexuality or anything else,. Whether you’re in love, or heartbroken, or indifferent but just like the tunes! Doors at 8pm, dance til 1am.
In what is becoming somewhat of an annual tradition, our February session is a LOVERS ROCK SPECIAL with the mighty SIR KELLS at the controls. This selector is equally well versed in rare groove and soul as JA sounds, so you can expect him to switch it up throughout. Next Friday 13 Feb at Walthamstow Trades Hall, 8pm to 1am.
