I’ll be with @polydubsound as part of their Hackney Half fundraiser for @hackneyfoodbank . Secret location for the minute but I’ll update ya closer to the time
Gonna pick up the pace in a @_soulsystm style with the selections on the day. Soulful and summer ready
Lace up 🌞
Loved shooting this as part of an ongoing project ‘Women in Moma Hilo’ for @momahilo
Shot on our stunning (and now pregnant) friend Lois in her home, this came together so nicely as it marked new beginnings for so many reasons: Lois and her partner starting a family, Penelope releasing a new jacket into the collection, and the approaching change of season - It was an honour to capture all of this in one go
The colour Yellow echoed this, literally elbowing its way into this shoot - starting with the heels and manifesting in the flowers and found items in their home, and now finds a place in this layout
The cherry on top was a killer bacon sarnie and a cup of tea that sits in my top 5… you know who you are
Turned to making a few presents this year: one was this chopstick set made from Sapele and Beech finished in Coconut oil
I’ll definitely make some more of these! I like the rests but I’d like to develop that idea a bit, and I’d definitely include a box for them - I’d lose those rests after one meal
Seasonal love to y’all
Miniature packing crate for made for @camillab.setdesign@konstrukt_creative for Axel Arigato made from maple and birch. Broke my heart to see this little guy go. Full size crate Jan and Morgs made to go with had magnetised junctions for the action shot.
Alright, summers done, so here’s some 📸 for @momahilo from sunny Portugal.
Penelope took a few looks away and we had a boozy photoshoot around the villa we stayed at. Big up @loisinnes & @morvenhassall for modelling. Also to Lib with her custom Moma Hilo flower ring (black & white)
Just shot some more stuff for her AW/25 pieces but had to get the last of heat with these
Excited to be showcasing this two-way stool/table (I’ll think of a better name) in @on_the.sq for @irenie.studio as part of @opencity_uk - open tomorrow
If you’re planning Open House visits this weekend, this 1840’s restoration in De Beauvoir is well worth a visit. Irenie has considerately worked with artists and makers to reimagine and rework the materials from the building as she found it, respectfully bringing it up to date
These shelves for the house really were a back-of-a-napkin kinda idea. Affectionately named ‘Shelves’ by my partners mate, I was motivated to get these right
The recess in the alcove we have is uneven so I decided to slant the profile back into the wall, leading the eye into the corner of the room a bit more without visually eating into the space we have
The structure was made from waste Walnut veneer from a job, clad on a timber frame with hidden channels for wall mounting, and capped in oak. The top two recess into the alcove and the bottom two protrude (I don’t like flush stuff). Then, in my wisdom, decided to reference an architectural detail we have on the other side of the room - a curve (ovolo? Photo included) so I had to learn how to steam bend
This was a whole f****** thing in itself and the project took a while, but stubbornness and determination got me there feat. A load of failed attempts, steam box alterations and clamping techniques. I’d say using plastic pipe is definitely the way to do it to prevent pressure loss
Stained, oiled and wire wooled to finish
P.s Don’t tell the landlord. Maybe they’ll keep em
A few photos from a community shoot for my gals womenswear brand @momahilo - a brand steeped in nostalgia, sustainability and timelessness
This was an open-call photoshoot to gather women and the women that inspire them to share their stories, echoing Penelope’s intentionality in creating a slow fashion brand.
It’s been real inspiring to see her get Moma Hilo (named after women in her family) off the ground over the last year, and an honour to get behind the camera for it - it’s been a minute. Using my dad’s 35mm Yashica was an appropriate nod to the family sentiment that flows through her work. I’ve been doing a bit more for her recently and I look forward to sharing it. Keep up the right thing!
@momahilo
Another wicked build with @konstrukt_creative & @arthurdeborman for @saultglobal main stage. Always a challenge, always a spectacle, and blessed to catch the show after all the graft. Chronixx was stand-outttt for me. Pyramid by @mdmprops was outstanding - Hella work went into that. Legend says they’re still striking it now
Room partition for Nu
Really enjoyed working out how to execute this cleanly and simply. Ended up using a locating dowel in the ceiling and a pocket hole at the base, which was an excellent excuse to buy another very specific, unnecessary saw for the arsenal
We talked about lot about the spacing of these and how the light would fall between them. Luckily the weather has been unreal and managed to get some shots to show it off. And this was all in time for Nu’s new sofa to arrive, completing the overhaul of the gaff. Looking forward to seeing her decision on the finish
Enjoyyyy
A stool I made for the gaff a while back with some inspiration taken from a Jeanneret desk. The idea was that it had a two-way function; a stool and a sort of sofa table.
Made from oak and some left over Iroko, I’d originally planned to ebonize the thing but the tannins in Iroko don’t blacken anywhere near as well as oak, so I threw that out the window and stained it in an black hardwax oil. Kind of detracts from the work I’d put into the joins but I let the love of ⬛️ get the better of me
It was also a pain in the A hole to photograph ⬛️ but a photo @harrycaptured took in the studio inspired me to share the thing. Tusind tak Harry
