Single File is a space where your work of art is turned into pixels and print with clarity and care, where documentation & reproduction isn’t an afterthought but a continuation of the life of the work. Whether you’re an established artist or passionate beginner, our mission is to capture the spirit of your artwork with careful attention to color and form, and to produce stunning prints that preserve your original creative act in a lasting physical form. A huge thanks to friend of SFS and filmmaking GOAT @summer.luu for this wonderful BTS vid of a recent in-studio documentation & reproduction session with local visual artist @robertaaylward . The session started with high-res, color accurate capture and ended with an archival reproduction on @cansoninfinity Arches 88 cotton rag. 🖼️ 🖨️ ✨ Looking to document and/or reproduce your work? One of the documentation highlights of the past year was a series of visits to @portlandartmuseum to photograph the prized Monet’s Waterlillies painting (1914-1915) while it underwent conservation to remove an acrylic resin varnish that had been applied by a collector decades ago. I made three visits- pre-treatment, mid-treatment, and after treament- to document the progress of Lead Conservator Charlotte Ameringer’s methodical work of restoring the painting to Monet’s original vision. Documentation included a series of lighting approaches during each visit, including UV documentation. If you’re interested in learning more about the conservation process and the back story on the Monet, I’ll drop a link to an article that goes further in depth in my stories. Grateful to PAM and Charlotte for bringing me on for his one. What a treat. 1. BTS of yours truly getting things calibrated for the post-treatment beauty shot 2. Post-treatment beauty shot in the gallery 3. BTS of UV photography in progress in the conservation studio 4. UV photograph in the conservation studio 5. Mid-treatment detail of saturation and textural differences on varnished vs unvarnished surface (notice the faint dividing line at the middle of the frame)

It was a joy to spend a recent morning with local artist @jamespage_studio at their floating home studio in Portland, Oregon. Page, a member of @waterstonegallery with an exhibition planned for September 2026, hand cuts and transforms their 35mm photo prints into meticulous collaged works. For the full gallery, you can head over to the most recent Flat Files entry on the SF(S) site. Link in bio.

There’s something meditative about the end of a drop You go through every print, embellishing by hand, rolling carefully, sealing the tube and by the time it’s done you’ve touched every single piece that’s going out. The hand embellished got worked with charcoal and pastels. Artist Proofs were reworked top to bottom Grateful for everyone who grabbed one they’re now on their way! No, these aren’t the originals! These are close-ups of the prints dropping next week. My print shop, @singlefile_studio , always does an amazing job capturing the textures and chunkiness of my oil paintings. I swear, if you held these up next to the real thing, you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart! I sent an email this morning with all the details for the drop, which runs from March 2nd – 6th. This time, I’m offering standard, hand-embellished, and Artist Proof prints The Artist Proofs are truly next-level. I completely rework them by hand, building up heavy layers just as I do with an original painting. Each AP is numbered out of 10 and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. There are only 10 APs available for select prints! Sign up on my website for more info. See y’all Monday

Wildlife photographer and friend of SF(S) @davidvolontephotography went to Kenya and dropped by the studio with some excellent photos, great stories, and harrowing insight into the state of conservation. It was an honor to work on these big, beautiful prints for Dave. All printed on @cansoninfinity Platine Fibre Rag.
