We like stories with happy endings.
We know happy endings are more likely when there is preparation.
Preparation starts with all of us.

It’s the moms.
Parent Heart Watch and Simon’s Heart both began in 2005. More than twenty years later, both organizations are still protecting hearts and saving lives.
Parent Heart Watch was founded by four mothers who found each other in grief and created a community for the moms who would come after them.
Unfortunately, there have been too many.
Today, we’re thinking about our founding mother, Phyllis Satinsky Sudman, and all of the mothers forced to carry two truths at once - deep love for the children they lost and fierce determination to protect the ones still here.
Today, we celebrate the moms who advocate, organize, protect and continue showing up for others through unimaginable loss.
Happy Mother’s Day.
Bruce got postponed.
The mission didn’t.

Last month, Karl Arps was mid-sentence explaining the signs of a cardiac arrest - then he lived it.
His students, training as EMTs at Fox Valley Technical College in Wisconsin, didn't panic. Six of them took turns doing compressions and using the defibrillator. Minutes later, paramedics arrived. Seven days after that, Karl walked out of the hospital.
Karl said it simply: "They saved my life, period."
They were training as EMTs, but what song do you think they were playing in their heads?

What do you run for?
For Amanda and Liz Cowhey, the answer is easy.
It’s Caroline Kyle.
On Sunday, they ran the Broad Street Run in memory of their best friend, who passed away from sudden cardiac arrest in 2022.
They run to remember.
They run to honor.
They run so no one else loses a best friend to a detectable and treatable heart condition.
The race is over. They finished.
The mission continues.
Link in bio to support their efforts.

Sudden death overtime is one of the most exciting moments in hockey. Sudden death is the leading cause of death in youth sports.
Last October, we launched the Overtime Challenge with Defibtech.
Every week, we turned those moments into something life-saving by donating an automated external defibrillator (AED) to a youth facility in an NHL market.
Now, children in St. Louis, Tampa, Las Vegas, Chicago. Anaheim and beyond are safer where they live, work and play.
These are two of those stories.
