Last night I had the opportunity to play @si_paradiso for the first time. Although it’s known to be a quality music venue in Perth the last time I set foot in there was in 2011, back when it was known as Luxe Bar - which was the venue/institution I first worked at as a bartender when I arrived in Australia. That was the year I decided to leave the UK to travel and consequently stop collecting records and DJing back home in the UK (for quite some time). Fast forward to today and I can feel the sweet irony in walking back there now to do what I love, when the last time I was there I had just given up doing exactly that!

Massive LOVE to everyone who came down to celebrate our 3 year birthday for MamaJuju at @yonderbar.mr last Sunday!
I don’t think myself or Ru imagined we’d be running such an outrageously fun night for this length of time. What started as a small musical get together in a little cosy bar in 2022 has slowly evolved in to an equally small musical get together in the exact same cosy little bar in 2025.
Not much has changed - we are still uniformly late for setting up before 5 and most of the time one of us forgets something of importance (not limited to but including the resident @mastersounds mixer, just once @l_van_groove )
What definitely hasn’t changed in 3 years is the foundations of MamaJuju - a space for us all to have lots of fun and ultimately get down to music that we just think is really, really good.
A sincere thank you and big love everyone that has ever walked through the door to a MamaJuju night, we can’t wait to see you at the next one 🩷
Oh shit and big love & thanks to the yonder homies who sling your drinks, keep you all hydrated and somehow always manage to get down just as hard!🩷

I thought about finding lots of videos and making a big fancy hoo-hah post about our upcoming #mamajuju celebration. However, not only through questionable organisation and ultimately running out of time, I just had some photos developed and think that this one wholeheartedly sums up the vibe myself and @l_van_groove have been nurturing for the last 3 years (alongside @yonderbar.mr and all the gorgeous crew that worked there of course!)
Tomorrow won’t be any different. We welcome you as always to the dance floor, for 5 hours of eclectic, very danceable and on the odd occasion ever so slightly weird music (on that note please do expect more Bollywood cuts from both of us tomorrow)
It’s been a pleasure to curate one Sunday of almost every month for your listening pleasure for 3 years. Tommorow, as usual, the needle drops @ 7 and birthday hats will be in one size but large supply.

Earlier in the year, and in between some good old fashioned backpacking trips (which have now rendered me poor by Australian standards), we managed to squeeze in a right old hootenanny down at the Tav and turn a cold winters night into a properly warm throw down. If you were there, you were there, and you know what a time it was! 🩷
