Vote Gavin Lyle
Aneil Karia’s new film focuses on a seemingly bumbling wannabe right wing politician, played brilliantly by Jack Lowden.
Like his previous short The Long Goodbye, this holds a mirror up to whats in front of us that we are choosing to ignore or are incapable of understanding.
Like all the best mokumentries It’s grounded in truth and hard to separate from reality, a fact driven home in the elections this week.
A must watch in increasingly troubling times.

Peaky Blinders
‘The Immortal Man’
When Peaky Blinders first aired 13 years ago, no one anticipated its impact on British TV, giving period drama a shot in the arm.
Cinematographer George Steel brought me on board for that first series. It was a gift of a project with inspirational people.
I was fortunate to stay for four series, working with incredibly talented collaborators and wonderful people.
As ever, a creatively challenging, inspiring, funny and immensely rewarding experience working with Tom and George.
We had aimed for Peaky to be cinematic in its vision for the small screen. Now, seeing it in the cinema the journey is complete.
In Cinemas now.
On Netflix 20th March.
But see it in cinema first 😉

Massive undertaking in our Grade department.
With multiple partners across the seas. Navigating shifting schedules, VFX updates, building bespoke remote systems our engineers, assistants, runners and producers pulled out all the stops.
We are incredibly fortunate to have people with not only immense talent but great spirt.
Problem solvers who immerse themselves in the whole project not just the task in front of them.
This series is in great debt to them as I am.
THANK YOU

Hamlet
Released in cinemas this week. February 6th.
Aneil and Riz film adaption of this 400 year old play comes smashing through the door like Jack Nicholson shouting ‘Herrrrre’s Hamlet’
Aneil’s compelling update to the famous play centres in on Hamlet’s turmoil and the volatile effects this has on everyone. What Michael Lesslie has chosen to cut out in the screenplay and focus on is clever.
Always brilliant at understanding what’s at the core of any story and drilling down and showing us what’s there, Aneil makes a stunning update to this classic.

Huge production with the weight of expectation. Fans left waiting for 10 years. All eyes watching.
The result? Never in doubt!
Immensely proud of my good friend Georgi. Just in awe of her talent and tenacity. Some people just sweep you up with them and take you for the ride. Always thankful that our paths crossed all those years ago.
Also, honourable mentions to Izzy and the editing teams masterful sewing of all strands and Tim’s lovely framing, filtering of light and finessing of so many different and sometimes testing conditions.
