Pre-order your own copy of Dearest on Bandcamp! Thanks to the support of 150 Kickstarter backers back in May-June this summer, I was able to create physical media for my debut studio album. This process has been wild and epic and taken a lot more energy than I expected! But it’s all been worth it to hold my album on vinyl. The poetry zine is also something I’m incredibly proud of. Before I was a cellist, I imagined I’d be a writer. So to have my writing published in this way is such a dream come true for Little Simone. As the boxes of CDs and Vinyl arrive to my flat, taking up the hallway, I’m reminded of my dad. A musician himself, he often printed and sold his own CDs, promoted his own music, and talked endlessly about the Guyanese musicians he worked with and called friends. In some way, I feel a continuation of this legacy and I feel grateful to be able to do so. Huge thank you to @christiannoellecharles who designed all the artwork. You can pre-order everything on Bandcamp, link in bio. — #poetryandmusic #musicimprovisation #newmusicrelease #dearestalbum #blackclassicalmusicians #spokenword #spokenwordpoetry #queermusic #queerlove #blackclassicalmusicians #cello #celloplayer #independentartists #merch

Huge thanks to @aberdeen_jazz for having me. I loved being a little weirdo on stage and sharing my improvisations and a couple tracks from my debut album. I’m super pleased to have shared the bill with @coralieviolin ’s band the Ming Hui Quartet, y’all had some absolute bangers. And, of course, big ups to Joy for being a lil roadie and working the merch stand āœØšŸ’› I have a couple gigs coming up in May, and I’m hoping to having some more gigs over the summer, just gotta get my booty in gear! — #cellist #freeimprovisation #spokenword #aberdeen #blackqueerartist
