I’ve posted a little bit about this album before and if you read those stories, you know how much this album means to me.
Last year in June, when we recorded this album, I was feeling pretty burned out. I was feeling so immensely tired and exhausted, that I feared I wouldn’t be able to record at all.
Thankfully, this recording was the most intimate, calm, safe and all around peaceful recording session I ever had the fortune to lead. Wonderful, vulnerable music mixed together with some of the loveliest people I’ve met made these two days at Traumton unforgettable.
Röda Fält encapsulates the sound of Seth’s music and the overall atmosphere of the album perfectly. Calm, but with intention. Searching, yet not lost. Even in the loudest sections somehow it still feels introspective. What is a dichotomy for most composers, Seth manages to bring together in a way, that feels simply natural, obvious even.
It’s music, that is meant to be listened to attentively. It carries you away to the north, to vast meadows, mountains, lakes, to solitude.

Happy Release day to @dsahinmusic and her debut album „Sosun“!
This release is a really special one to me. I heard Chili the first time a couple of years ago busking at Moritzplatz, when I was still interning at Trixx Studios and on my way to work. I was absolutely mesmerised. A true alto voice, so powerful and rare.
Fast forward to last fall, when Chili contacted me about mixing her record. And what a record it is!
Deeply personal and emotional, Genre bending and blending, honouring her heritage and bringing it right into the 2020s. As I wrote in another post, it is a true labour of love, composed and crafted over a literal decade. From the acoustical „Surrender“ to the eerie modern soundscapes of „Settle Down“, every arrangement has D.$ahins unique sonic fingerprint embedded into it. Imagine the treat it was for me, to bring all these things together in the mix. Pure sonic bliss.

Happy release day to @flosse_band and their second album „Lotterleben“!
Recorded two years ago at Zentrifuge Berlin bei Tito Knapp, it brings back the bands signature sound, a mixture of complex, pointy rhythms and soft, melancholic melodies.
From an engineering standpoint, mixing this album was an extremely refreshing and interesting task. The traditional conventions of melodic instruments being accompanied by a rhythmsection no longer apply. Sax and trumpet serve both as melodic, but also rhythmic and, in absence of the traditional guitar or piano, as harmonic instruments. The bass aswell is multi purpose, nestling itself under the horns to play melodies or complete their harmonic webbings. Even the drums take part in the melodic activities with glockenspiel. It was my task then, to stage this ensemble in a way, that in every part each instrument found its place in relation to their role in the arrangement and granting the instruments a lot of room and flexibility for them to shift in and out of their roles seamlessly.

The same titled project started as a coincidence. Three friends went off on a little holiday in the woods of Scandinavia and luckily for us, they brought their instruments and means to record.
What followed were days of musical exploration, Improvisation and listening. Indeed, when you hear this record, the amount of space every player gives rather than takes is astonishing. It’s the sort of music, where the listener gets to experience the vastness of the landscapes and sceneries in which this music was recorded in too.

Happy releaseday to @trashpillowband and their first single „Eyes On Us“ of their upcoming EP RAW!
I had the great fortune mastering this record produced and mixed by the great @moore_music_berlin last year.
This first single, as the rest of the EP, is an anti war song that given the international political situation has gained an eerie amount of relevance once again recently.
Accompanied by military-like radio vocals the song hits just hard enough to let you feel the gravity of the message without destroying its own purpose.

@staedtische_manieren released their debut album „Posterchild“ this year!
I had the great fortune of mixing this incredibly diverse album, ranging from fast paced punk-rock over jazzy ballads to Drum&Bass. Every mix was different, every arrangement unique, yet somehow it all comes together and forms a sound identity of a band that has found its voice.
Maybe it’s the vocals that no matter if shouting or near whispering transmit an unfathomable amount of emotional depth. Maybe it’s the messed up, eery guitar and bass sounds. And maybe it’s the unique blend of rhythms and drum tunings - most likely it is the combination of all of the above.
The band has been writing new songs already and having whitnessed them live, I can assure you, that more great things are coming for the band in 2026 and beyond!

Happy Release Day to @irmaneumuller and @sethsjostromm and their duo album „Come Give Me Love“!
Mastering is a fine art. It is about meticulously focusing on all the small details that might have slipped through the production process and tying the album together in a way, that allows for the most pleasant listening experience. And the more transparent and slim the arrangement, the more important every little detail becomes.
This album‘s arrangements are as transparent as they come, featuring nothing but Irma‘s singing and Seth on Bass. The recordings by @jonasbergdahl_ were in a great place already, as he found the right space and tone for them to sit in the mix. Yet I still found myself listening and tweaking things for hours, because all these little details mattered so much. A little noise here, a little more body on a bass note there. Things that would be masked, if a drumset and guitars and keys and horns and all the things imaginable were playing along with them.
The result gives me immense joy. From slow and introverted like Seth‘s own „Vinterväg“ to Carmichael and Mercer’s outgoing „Skylark“, the energy and the range of emotions Irma and Seth are able to convey with just her voice and a Bass is astonishing! It brings you the feeling of those cozy living room concerts, the evenings shared with friends to the streaming platforms.
I could write articles about this album, but I’ll leave you to it with a recommendation for TODAYS concert at @donau115 in Berlin. You will not want to miss this!
