The last weeks the studio has been subject to some substantial upgrades. New speakers and desk are installed and the room now sounds incredible. No more second guessing as the work I have been doing lately translates better than ever before. The @atc_loudspeakers produce so precise stereo imaging and I am hearing transients and mids in a whole new way. I’m rediscovering all my favourite music and working in this room is so inspiring. Ergonomics of the new desk is working exactly like I hoped and the sonic imprint has improved drastically. Couldn’t be happier with the current setup!

We are very happy to share that Magnus Kofoed is now a part of Øra Mastering!
Magnus has been in the recording industry for over a decade. He has an extensive background from electronics and is a well known face in the studio scene in Trondheim, either recording bands or fixing gear. Magnus started mastering records in 2012 out of Brygga Studio, and has built up a large client base the last ten years. As of August 2022, Magnus became a part of Øra Mastering and will master his projects here with the same personalized service as he has done previously.
Some of the bands and artists Magnus has mastered are @spidergawdofficial , @johndoetrondheim , @idajenshus_official , @krkslv , @alexander_pettersen , Mattis & Resjemheia, High Priest of Saturn, @bakrus , @oeyholm , @kannegaardmaria , @blackmooncircle and many more.
Karl and Magnus are very excited to write this new chapter of Øra Mastering together. They bring different strengths to the team and by exchanging knowledge and experience, they will keep on striving to improve their sonic results and customer experience.

New year, new cables 🔌
Started this year by switching all the cables in the studio to Grimm with Neutrik connectors. Shorter and matched cable lengths is the new norm here and the studio sounds better than ever.

@texdrums and I (aka @birdworldmusic ) made a new track - “Let Sleeping Babies Lie” - and released it digitally this morning.
Inspired by our respective experiences as fathers with young gremlins trying to settled them, often with limited success, but when they DO sleep, don’t get in the way of their golden slumbers, let them lie, much like one would with a fierce stray dog!
A scattered, almost psychedelic lazy groove, accompanied by an ambiguously metred wriggling bass line and sonorous guitar jangle alongside a distant honky-tonk piano colour - saloon Dutilleux, sort of bag - felt like the right fit for the title of this tune… hope it tickles your musical whiskers, the big drop pending in the spring on @dugnadrec … in the meantime, much merriness from our quarters and see you on the other side of 2025 🎄!
