We are pleased to introduce Simona Cristea as part of the post-production team behind the films presented in the Romanian Pavilion, where she shaped the colour grading. Simona has previously collaborated with Anca Benera & Arnold Estefán on Rehearsals for Peace, and we are delighted to have her on board for Black Seas – her contribution is exceptional.
Simona Cristea originally trained as a fine art painter at The National University of Arts, Bucharest. Following her graduation and subsequent successful exhibitions of her work in Paris and Milan, she was recruited into the world of colour correction and creating beautiful imagery for the screen.
Her aesthetic intuition and artistically trained eye, combined with her extensive knowledge of film, have earned Simona Cristea an outstanding international reputation as a leading exponent of her craft.
Simona’s career has seen her working freelance and for some of the industry’s most respected post‑production facilities, collaborating with clients from all over the world – from New York to London, Tokyo and Mumbai – and colour grading a diverse catalogue of films, music videos and advertising campaigns for internationally renowned brands.
Simona Cristea has won numerous colour grading awards and is recognised as one of the Top-Ten Colourists in the UK by Televisual magazine. Her breadth of knowledge and experience has seen Simona regularly participating on panels at industry events and joining film craft juries for awards such as D&AD, Ciclope, Creative Circle, UK Music Video Awards and the British Arrows.
