Pista’s Paradise is a live concert series I created and launched last month with the help of some incredible musicians and dancers. The vision behind it was to create a safe space where world music can blend together. A space to show that we are all united through sound and movement. Last year, I released an album called Sahira, named after my niece who’s half Tamil and half Trini. She inspired the eclectic sound of the project. Around that time, desixstreet tagged me in a video dancing to one of the tracks, Bounce Classical - a blend of Tamil classical, South Indian, and Baile Funk. I was blown away by how they fused classical Indian dance with Chicago street styles. One year later, I invited her to Toronto to perform live with me for Pista’s Paradise. She flew down, but due to an emergency, she had to return home right before the show. We managed to capture this beautiful moment together just before she left and before the concert started. Her movement embodies the spirit of East and West, intention, rhythm, and story - exactly how this body of work was created through collaboration across the world. Vocals by @Meturaju & Nadhaswaram by @k.varjaan both from Switzerland. The story I tell through my art is one of oneness, and I hope you can feel it in the music.
