Grateful and proud to see our brand identity system and kinetic typography being awarded not one but two awards at this years @typedirectors awards. So rewarding to see this project which was produced independently in close collaboration with @ortype with help from @sigurdurymir on 3d and @gudnithor.visual on motion with photography from @k_tanman in company with some of the greatest work produced last year from the best studios and agencies in the world. Thank you! Full list of finalists on the TDC site /finalists/
Úrslit! Hreyfing leturs í verkefni okkar með @icelandsymphony er tilnefnt til TDC72 verðlaunanna, sem afhent verða í NYC í sumar. Útfærslurnar gera letrið að þátttakenda í tónlistinni, þar sem það hreyfist í samræmi við takt og tóna.

Finalists! Our kinetic typography design with the @icelandsymphony is being recognised by the TDC72 awards. In our execution, the words live as part of the music, moving with the rhythm and melody.

Some more details from Njörður with emphasis on our bespoke typeface.
Transforming ocean water into magnesium metal with Iceland’s clean energy. By extracting magnesium directly from seawater and powered entirely by Iceland’s clean energy, the project achieves zero emissions and avoids toxic byproducts altogether.
Based on the idea of transformation a bespoke headline typeface was developed with @ortype , incorporating the waves of the sea as well as referencing Icelandic carving heritage. As a variable font the communication alternates between the wavy display state and a more square and rational state representing the magnesium metal.

Excited to share some new work made with the team at @aton.reykjavik this year. Identity refresh and seasonal campaign for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra @icelandsymphony .
The brand refresh revisited their core elements, redrawing their iconic symbol, originally designed by Aðalbjörg Þórðardóttir in 1988, updating their layout system and introducing an expressive typographic system based on Adelia from @lettersfromsweden . The outcome is a versatile design system providing structure allowing the symphony to bloom.
For the 2025-2026 season, the symphony takes the stage adorned in flowers. The campaign continues the orchestra’s ongoing floral motif but brings it alive through motion and rythmic dance set to Stravinsky. Full case study on Aton.is
Cheers to the team at Aton

Joining @aton.reykjavik this fall, the first order of business was refreshing the agency’s own brand identity. Aton prides itself on defining the essence of brands, their core, and expressing it in imaginative ways.
We based our new identity around a bespoke typeface, Nota, designed by our own Hólmfríður Benediktsdóttir. Bold and confident in character, its main feature are its variable, expressive counterforms, representing both the various voices the agency contains, as well as the multiple ways of speaking to different audiences.
As a home to multiple voices and a partner to many different brands, our identity needs to be able to flex for different use cases. In our most expressive messaging, we wanted to be able to express our collaboration, adaptablility and playfulness, incorporating dimensional imagery into the counterforms of the letters of our logo. This allows us to experiment with elements from brands we partner with, trending topics, seasons and have fun.
The Manischewitz rebrand was my first project at @jkrglobal and I’m delighted to see it out in the world 2 years later. The company has been around for 130 years and with this new update invites everyone to taste Jewish American tradition. Grateful to have worked with wonderfully talented people on this such as @milenko_illustration on illustration, @simon_letters on logotypes and of course @lisadesignnyc , @therichgreco and the outstanding team at JKR New York.
Identity design for @panama.air — an artist-in-residence program located in Reykjavík, Iceland. Building on the idea of communicating a strong sense of place, the wordmark takes inspiration from Iceland’s historical woodcut lettering, hand carved on personal belongings such as headboards, food containers and knives throughout the centuries. Thanks to my friend @daniel.reuter for letting me have fun on this one this summer.
