22nd May - Beach Walk + Hideaway Coffee 🌊
A walk along the seafront to Temple at Black Rock. Fresh air and good conversation, and maybe a little bit of mark making.
28th May - Do Something Good 🎬
A breakfast event with a screening of ACTionism and World Café conversations. How do we use our creativity to make a difference?
11th June - Away Day in the Countryside 🌳
Welcome coffee, creative coworking in a beautiful rural studio, and a home-cooked lunch.
16th July - Sweat, Flow, Create 🧖
A talk on sauna and creativity, a 30-minute sauna, then creative coworking at Saltdean Lido.
10th September - Showcase Your Side Project Online 💻
A 90-minute workshop on building a home for your side project online. What to put where, how to talk about your work.

Zine Your Side Project with @xavogram 🖌️
Have you heard of @side.projectbtn ? The creative community in Brighton for people who “make things on the side, wish the did, or forgot they could”? Well, get them on your radar. @roseradtke.brands and @onaplategrowth have curated a wonderful network of creatives and put on regular events in Brighton.
This particular event was a zine making workshop with @xavogram at @brightonhausonthehill . I was anxious, as I’m very much a words-creative rather than a visual one, but they had emphasised all you needed to bring was yourself and some half-formed ideas (of which I have plenty). I took my MA dissertation, a short story collection which has been collecting dust in the cupboard, tore out chunks of prose and started playing around with a big red pen. It was a joy to remember that not everything you do creatively has to be used for something or go anywhere - the process is just as important. Sitting there absorbed in my thoughts with scissors, glue and a pint was the point.

We had such a great time making zines the other evening with @xavogram . The sun was streaming through the windows of @brightonhausonthehill , the drinks were flowing and so was the creativity. We all left with something real, to remind us of who we are today.

We held our second workshop this week (sold out again!), and it was wonderful. At Reframe Your SIDE PROJECT we had:
- A creative director who walked into the room without a side project, and walked out with an idea to explore stone carving
- An aspiring poet who wanted to start a spoken word community
- Someone who wanted to shape her memories of her parents into a memoir
- A photographer who had been shadow banned from social media due to explicit works and needed to find another way of sharing her art
And many more fascinating individuals with ideas they wanted to bring to life or grow. There was even a possible collaboration that came to light - really hoping we hear more on that soon!

On 29th April we’re hosting Zine Your Side Project with the brilliant @xavogram - photographer, printmaker, and the person who’ll help you turn a pile of ideas into something you can hold.
6–8pm at @brightonhausonthehill .
We want this event to be as accessible as possible so pay as you feel (from £5), or come along free if you’re a member of SIDE PROJECT.
Bring your materials, your half-formed thoughts, your bits and pieces. We’ll sort the rest.

- Make something ugly on purpose
- Go outside without your phone
- Finish something you started ages ago
- Examine your subconscious to find out what’s REALLY blocking you
- Book onto the next SIDE PROJECT workshop
