babeanna EP Out Now!
Shw!n ends a short hiatus from his solo music with “Babeanna,” the sophomore EP aptly titled after his mother’s middle name. His mother, who remains a major influence on his career and life, was a musician herself. In the 70s, Shw!n’s mum, Suzan, found herself performing in various venues and clubs in Singapore, where she raised her family. Shw!n’s journey in music had started under her tutelage, having learnt drums from his mother at a young age. It was this very spark that lit his unrelenting passion for creating. He would later form a band while he was pursuing his undergraduate degree in Liverpool.
In the years leading up to the release of their debut album, the band was forced to operate remotely, spending most of the writing and production processes split across different corners of the globe. Inexplicably, having to procure an album worth of material while being so far apart from each other took a great toll on the band. This eventually led to their split in 2024. “Babeanna” was a project made out of necessity. Written over a period of great reckoning and discomfort, each song chronicles the intense change that Shw!n had found himself experiencing after parting ways with the band. A newfound creative freedom spurred the growth of the dynamic and adventurous sound that runs throughout the EP.
“Babeanna” is more of a confession than a plain monologue. The EP invited listeners to explore the inner facets of themselves just as Ashwin had done as a person in our society, a mentor, creative, a brother and - most importantly - a son to his dear mother.

iiARA carries a quiet but undeniable presence in every space she performs in. Between the wordplay and the beats, there’s a strong sense of narrative and control that briefly reminds me of the spoken word nights I used to host years ago. When asked which artists to watch over the next few years, she was immediately one of them — fiercely independent and deeply assured in her own direction.
