iiARA carries a quiet but undeniable presence in every space she performs in. Between the wordplay and the beats, there’s a strong sense of narrative and control that briefly reminds me of the spoken word nights I used to host years ago. When asked which artists to watch over the next few years, she was immediately one of them — fiercely independent and deeply assured in her own direction.

A public holiday, a shared night.
This Friday, we begin May with three artists moving through different sounds, directions, and intentions—each bringing their own sense of rhythm and presence into the room. More than a lineup, it is a meeting point for process, momentum, and the spaces where new work begins to take shape.

lessons from the head/rt:
- kite flying is fun but way more fun when someone else does it
- you must always tarik, ulur, tarik, ulur
- you’ll never age well if you keep relying on and living for capitalistic rewards
- speaking up is not complaining - that’s just something we were taught as children to stop us from questioning things and just “go with the flow”
- red wine is good for the heart but bitter as hell
- keep both feet on footpegs even if you’re one foot out the door
- never let anything or anyone take away pieces of yourself, even creating
- dance for fun even if you’re bad at it it dont matter
- smoking kills but your nicotine addiction is not your fault
