Hello friends 💗 checking in to announce something that I’m deeply proud of; my first EP as Derin Ayla, “Stretching, Steeping,” will be releasing on May 29th 🌱 These three pieces mean the world to me, not just because they’ve emerged from several years of writing, but also because they embody a narrative and sound that I feel like I’ve been seeking for as long as I’ve been music making
For the time being, this project will only be available on Bandcamp, so please consider following the page and pre-ordering the EP ahead of the release {link is in my bio} (or just write a little reminder down somewhere!)
None of this (or any of what I do, for that matter) would be possible without the unyielding care, inspiration, and wisdom of the friends around me. Thank you so much to everyone who brought this to life, their contributions and credits are listed below

it’s out! my new single Two Pint Taylor (In My Solitude) is now available to stream on your DSP of choice. this is the first song i wrote when i first moved to nyc (see last slide nov 8, 2024), so it is a special one for me. a lot of love went into it from some awesome people including @baileykrecords who engineered and mixed the damn thing at @fluxstudiosnyc , @teddy.mcgraw who played bass and slide in the sessions, my band mates @ethanlabouisse and @theorogers who showed me how this song is meant to be shredded on live, @cbenson6868 for moral support during recording, @shortstackny for giving me a space to demo this one out, @archer.c.e for the cover photo, and @pink_poseidon for visual direction and content development strategy. i included some of the original recordings of the song from way back when for your enjoyment. hope yall like it
Dear Gengis,
You did it brother! You completed a project that you started as a boy & finished as a man. You remember the recording session in 2023 when you told the guys you planned to put it out in the next few months? 💀 You’ve always been a dreamer! Don’t ever lose that trait….. like you lost some friends in these 3 years. Don’t ever lose that trait like you lost yourself a few times throughout the creation process. Being a dreamer got you to LA. Being a dreamer helped you to finish this project through whatever adversity life through at you! Being a dreamer introduced you to love so real it showed you how to love yourself again. I know you have a tendency to keep moving and thinking about the next goal, and the next milestone, but I NEED you to take a second and give yourself some credit for seeing this thing through all the way! Stop and smell the roses YOU planted! Yes the work isn’t done, but the thing about work is, it’ll be there tomorrow. So take a break, enjoy the fruits of your labor and be proud of making a DAMN GOOD ALBUM!
Love,
The person that wants only the best for you!

when el and i met we started making playlists for each other. christmas of ‘24 i put one of those songs (along with some other stuff that’s just for them) on a cassette, made a little cover for it, and put it under the tree. now i just sortof add to it when the time is right. birthdays, holidays, any sort of day. the process is a fun little synecdoche of our relationship: i always have something waiting in the wings, so its easy to forget how much work has gone into it. easy to stumble upon an act of love from months ago. always ooping the alley. So here are three songs! Three sweet covers for my sweet lover. Now you can be a peeping tom into my heart :)
Huge thanks to @pheeno_music@connerduke_ , and Grant Meyer who were my extraordinary band for “If You Love Me”. Joe helped me record drums for “Take Me Where Your Heart Is” at @shortstackny and his lovely girlfriend Elizabeth was our producer for the aforementioned track. Super grateful that these fellas keep showing up in the music i make.
There will be a new, original Eschen Jay EP out in 2026.
Thank you all for everything. Please enjoy EL-1 on January 1st.
